If players are scouted, then coaches should be too. Its fine the way it is, but there should be something that shows this candidate's previous success at the position you are wanting him for

I agree with the premise of the OP, much like I agree that water should be wet and the sky should be blue. Also much like the OP, I couldn't begin to tell you what makes water wet or the sky blue.

So is a sure thing that coach 1 is better than coach 2 if coach 1 has 5 more trophies? It could just be a matter of how long that coach has been playing the game. That would also be included

No, thats my point. It wouldn't just include trophies. Add "career offensive stats" for the OCs and etc. Show his philosophies, team records, and other stuff. I don't know all the details on how it would work yet. I just think its a good idea to add a way where you can find out exactly who you are giving the job too.

Also what would be nice is to have a list of options that u can choose for to reward or pay your coach. Ex. If the candidate agrees that he would OC the team only if I (as owner) would give him a +1 morale to all of his players then that would be something I can do from the options I have to choose from.

It's not really possible. A lot of times head coaches and owners on teams are the ones doing the coordinating or they have one or multiple assistants.

and it doesn't show when you OC a team in regional pro that is 6 levels under leveled

or if you OC'd crappy dots to an 8-8 record where they would have gone 1-15 without you

Too many cases where those stats would be less than useless, for the reasons given above.

I have independently ran ever team I've owned just for the simple fact that I don't know anyone well enough to trust them. Also, coaches don't want to deal with team that they've never been associated with or has no connect with any agents on that team. A reward for them would give them some motivation

I think the only thing that would work here would be endorsements from others. Probably forum based. We already have a PLFT and a TLFP... if there was a Coaches forum with a CLFT and a TLFC inside of it, then people could post whatever accolades or disparities as endorsements of said coaches... along with those coaches posting their own résumés. Just thinking out loud.

you could just ask for some references.


any type of voting system or system setup on wins and losses is going to fail.

voting- itll fail because some guys just like to vote negative. You might have an argument with the owner and get a negative vote, etc etc.

wins and losses- what if you only let up 10 points per game as a DC but your OC puts up 6 points per game and you go 0-16? That DC will never get picked up and thats a shame.

Only way to do it is to ask the guy to link you to teams he DCs/OCs and talk to the owner.

Personally I just made one when I was a DC and updated it every season. Here is what it looked like. You could add some sort of form like this or similar to allow you to put yourself in the marketplace, but you would have to make it link to the teams in question to keep people from lying and they still wood - they would say they DCed teams they never actually did.

Clicking on my own links I realize another problem is that some of these teams don't exist anymore, as in they have been remove from the system.

Honestly: If you're looking for a DC/OC you take any warm body you can find.

If you're a WL owner, you most likely know which GM's can do it.
