I am looking for info on advanced energy level tactics. Any explanations out there on advanced energy strategies?

We've got a prep casual team and want to make sure we get the most out of our young roster. The majority of our depth chart has a much better player starting with a lower level back-up.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Depends on the backups. fogie's plan may be better advice. Going with something like 80/81 might not be a bad idea.

I've been debating changing to something other than the 98/99 for a few positions due to the skill level differnce between the starter and and back-up. I just want to make sure I completely understood the theory and possible outcome if changed.

What is the difference in going with 80/81 vs. 80/1?

Min: When the player hits this energy he subs out
Return: When the player that was subbed out hits this energy, he returns the next play

80/81 would mean the starter played until his energy dropped to 80, was subbed out, then returned when it was at 81 or higher. If he takes more than 1 play to get to 81, the backup would remain in.

80/1 would mean the starter played until his energy dropped to 80, was subbed out, then returned when it was at 1 or higher (which means he just takes a 1 play break).

The advantage 80/81 has over 80/1 is that your starter could get dirt tired at 80/1 and he would still be switching every other down with the backup. At some point the backup is probably better than the dirt tired starter, so it's up to you to try and find that point.

Why? With that setting the starter plays til his energy his 75. He will return when his energy is at least 0 which means he will be alternating plays the rest of the game which means his energy will absolutely suck for the 4th quarter (or sooner) while your opponents are playing with energy in the 90's because they subbed out properly.

Just my opinion. I will take an average player will full energy over a good player with 40 or 50 energy in the 4th quarter every time.

guess it depends on just how much better the starters are than the backups

True....but if there is that big of a drop off than you better to start recruiting

if it is this team http://goallineblitz.com/game/team.pl?team_id=1697, the top players are level 19 while the lowest is level 1...at QB for example, the starter is 19 and the backup 4. I'd rather have the level 19 guy in there with zero energy than the level 4 guy in most situations. With QB you could easily set it up where the level 4 guy did all handoffs and the level 19 guy all passing, and while it would be easy to for the D to tag, it would work OK. Much harder to work with subbing in LBs where the corps is level 1, 5, 9, 10, 10, 10

is actually kinda nice to see a more realistic team like that-- since age-based leagues rosters are more boring.

When I was talking about energy settings I was implying that it would be used on a competitive team. If a team has level 19 and level 1 players than they are not a competitive team.
