if a team wants 10 WRs because they operate from spread and Shotgun 5 most of the time, why not let them carry 10 WRs? If a team wants an ST unit with 9 utility stop centers, plus 2 Cs for the offense, why not allow that?

edit: thread is not about removing the 55 man limit, but removing the limits per position

edit: thanks to mods for re-opening (twice ) ... upon investigation its clear the limit (seems to be 8 players for a given position regardless of AT) only comes into play when 1 or more of the players at a given position is a CPU dot, and as such isn't (in my opinion) as in dire need of fixing, but still something as an owner I'd like to see changed sooner or later and, until such time, that there be documentation of the limits somewhere

I don't think you guys are understanding what he is asking for. He doesn't want to raise the roster limit of 55, he wants to be able to have more than 8 of the same position. Apparently there is an 8 dot limit per position.

i would like to +1 this because it would allow for teams to have an identity.

if everything were completely balanced sure but that's not likely to ever happen.

going to relock this, mat has a very valid point, but it's another suggestion entirely

the 55 limit is set in stone, and they will not be changing it


a valid suggestion would be however: Make CPU players auto cut themselves if the roster limit is hit....

after a PM from the OP explaining the intent of the thread, I've edited the OP and unlocked.

I wasn't aware that there was a limit per position

still -1 from me simply because then teams will find someway to game the system. right now a team can run the offense's that the OP is asking for by using 7 WRs and 3 receiving TE's. It is the same exact principal and if there is a OOP penalty for TE's to play WR then simply remove that OOP.

also I think if a team uses players witht he ST archtype then those players shouldn't count towards the position limit. for example if a team uses 7 centers as their STs group then the team should still be able to have 2 centers that are the run blocker or pass blocker archtype. but this example is used solely for the ST's archtype.

I agree with the OP, Reminds me of the Lions and Oilers when the ran the Run-N-Shoot, They didn't have TE's and FB's because they was no need. If I want to go with just a Spread Offense as an Owner, I should be able to.

the oilers only had like 7 WRs though.
