Too many people in this game chase newbies or anyone away by either:

Mocking the person who asked a question
Giving False info
Just Trolling
Have to scroll through pages before you actually get any real answer
Etc.

Have a system where you submit a question in a locked thread and various Mods can give the answer instead of making it an open thread discussion. This would eliminate a lot of the garbage info out there and stop the trolls from making some newbies feel stupid and leave the game before they have a chance to experience it.

Letting the few people who feel a need to post on just about every thread control your user experience is bad for business. Some threads you can't tell the good info from the bad info in the thread. I think if you have a more controlled Q&A environment the user experience would be better. You could even make the questions posted by Anonymous so that user can get the info without being belittled.

I would do this instead of a PM system because I am sure that a lot of the questions others would ask but don't because they feel like they will be mocked. If you want to have a discussion you could use other parts of the site, this would just be for Q&As.

Unfortunately there are almost as many good posters as there are bad imo.

mods are not always the most knowledgeable on a topic

and fwiw if people would read the forums and the Wiki their questions would generally be answered without any trolling

Unfortunately, the Wiki isn't exactly up to date when it comes to information. That alone would frustrate alot of new people.

Right know, the game has always been unstable in the long run in terms to what works and what doesn't. One strategy for a season will get nerfed the next either directly or indirectly through changes to other parts of the sim.

But I agree that the current Mods aren't in place based on their GLB inner knowledge. Most of them are learning as they go like the rest of us.

I understand the sentiment but as covered in the last two posts, the mods aren't always going to have the perfect answer or have time to sit down and answer every question. If this were made, people would get upset when a mod doesn't answer their question within 10 minutes of them posting.

Matt does what he can, perhaps they need some more mods assigned to that forum but even then it's not the best solution. Perhaps more time outs need to be handed out to certain individuals who would rather battle over ego than answer the question.
It's a tough judgement call though for mods though, since sometimes the correct answer takes a little back and forth discussion to clarify things. It's when they go into 3 pages of name calling and ego stroking that something more needs to be done but by that time the post is already ruined.

Actually a better solution would be to allow/add/create the ability for mods to suspend (or ban) posting for people who can't follow the rules of the FAQ forum. But just for the FAQ forum, not a general forum suspension. Not sure if it's possible to do, or if they already have that ability, but that would help cut down on trolls and back and forth arguments.

Add a rule to trolling threads and problem solved. Ive seen too many threads where people are just ripping someone a new one without any response from the mods. Stop the petty bullshit before it starts up.

This is true. Most mods have a good idea on game workings but there are users who are way more intelligent than myself (for example) at lots of things on GLB.

Wiki is always the first place to look if you get the chance. Also if you find something outdated pm support and they are working on updating and correcting issues.

Also for the entire thread...keep in mind "trolling" is not actually a listed rule...but 'Any post that is unconstructive and/or intends to draw attention away from the main topic of discussion' is a rule. For the most part in the FAQ forum that rule is enforced fairly well especially for new users.

The problem is that rule you speak of is enforced differently between mods and sometimes it seems like mods just pull that rule out on a biased basis.
