I would like to suggest that two extra custom D slots are added for LDE and RDE. This would allow further variety on the defensive side of the ball especially with teams using a 3-4 front.
This would allow you to put a strength-based run-stopping DE in for obvious running plays as 3-4 DEs need a lot of strength to hold up blockers so that LBs can make the tackles.
It would also allow you to put a speed-based DE/OLB in the DE slot for obvious passing plays as obviously speed is more important in terms of pass rushing.
Let me know what you think, or if this has been suggested before and shot down, but I think this could really help DCs to game-plan more effectively and not just rely on the luck of the correct person being in on each play!!!
