I have seen a lot recently posted about the report button and the users that abuse it. I feel that people that use the report button should be held accountable for their actions. I am not asking to know who does the reporting. I am asking that if someone reports another user. That if the person that was reported isn't banned then the person doing the reporting gets a ban. I think that this would slow down the childishness that goes along with the report button. It would also actually make people think twice before reporting someone. It really would be nice if users were actually held accountable for their actions.

If the report is proven to be frivolous and on a regular basis... +1

You are completely right in that its being abused and used as a tool of revenge.

1. Mods don't just ban because a post is reported .
2. Friv reports are kept track of.
3. This should probably be sent to support but I'll leave it open because it's one of those suggestions that could go either way (suggestion forum or support issue).
4. I agree everyone should be held accountable but not much I can do about it tbh.

Sorry, kind of to the point with my post.

Just remove it.
I cannot remember ever using it anyway.

It should be taken away and the mods should do a better job of modding the forums and preventing personal attacks in suggestion threads. It seems like it takes 5 secs for a joke thread to get locked but a thread with repeated personal attacks can go on and on.

+1 to op but only if the mods do a better job.

Edit: Not directed at you, fyi. Just a general statement.

mods are ALWAYS in a lose/lose situation

Do not turn this into a mod bashing thread, or a user bashing thread. Please. (to any user not just who I quoted)

I personally would probably never use the report button anyhow. It would take something really bad - like posting kiddie porn - for me to report someone. Even then, I don't need a report button. I can send a PM with a link to the post.

Sometimes less accessibility leads to cooler heads.

true, I think the report button was a useful tool in theory but it does get abused. I think I preferred the good ole' days when folks would pm.

There's an easy solution to this -

ban 'em all, jamz the mod will sort it out.

This. It is such a stupid thing to have. Of course a bunch of idiots are going to be slapping the button just to piss people off.

All it does is incite people to report one another.

"OOOOH YOU REPORT ME? OR'RRY? I REPORT U BACK"

So on, and so forth. Mods should be reading threads and judging things on their own - that's why they get paid the big reward points.

You know - like RightSaidJed and DarkBanMan and KingBan used to do, back in the old days. WORK FOR THAT MONEY MODZ
