I think we need to stop counting sack yards as rushing yards. anyone agree?

College does this because they don't want to try and decide what the original play was. Especially in college when you have more rushing QBs etc etc, they do it to make stat keeping easier.
In GLB the game knows what the intended play call was, so marking them as rushing yards is not really necessary imo

well, for example: your team is tanked. you have a rushing QB that had a decent rushing game, but since he was murdered trying to pass, he has negative rushing yards.

tired of seeing teams ranked in the top 5 for run defense just because they blitz the hell out of the other team

^^^ this ^^^ And the fact that the NFL counts sacks as negative passing yards. Guess it means they're better (and smarter) than college level football.

Though I don't agree with entire sentiment, I do agree that it would make scouting much easier when comparing team stats.
Personally, I would like to see - on the same page - both yards lost due to sacks and yards allowed on rushing calls. That way you can have a better sense of what is happening.
Theo also gives a good point about passing yards, but still I would like to see a separate stat specifically for sack yardage by the defense.

I agree,on a sack the QB hasn't yet thrown a pass so it is stupid to count against pass yards. At the same time he isn't running the football (that is of course unless he decides to scramble) so there's no point to count it against the run either. A separate category would be perfect

As long as the QB remains behind the LOS, he always has the option to either run or pass, regardless of the type of play called. So, until the balls leaves the QB's hand the type of play remains in limbo. It's that simple. Even a handoff can be disrupted, leaving the QB trying to avoid a sack on a rushing call. So a sack can happen on any play called, regardless of rush or pass.
