I think something needs to be done to "Fix" scrambling QBs. It seems to me like it needs to be easier for Scrambling QBs to realize when they have open running lanes.

I always see scrambling QB's pull the ball down and attempt to run too soon, or attempt to run in stupid situations.

Even when the QB has an open lane, It seems that he never even runs that way.

Here are some replay examples.

Replay 1: QB Pulls ball down to early, Doesn't run towards open lane.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2074807&pbp_id=3527963

There was no pressure on the QB, and he only looks at his 1st read before he tries to run. He's got an open lane between the Left Tackle & Left Guard, but he Doesn't run there.

Replay 2: QB Looks at 1st read, Then just gives up on the play. When the QB pulls the ball down, There isn't even a defender within 5 yards of him. The blitz was picked up and the QB would've had time to go to his next read.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2074807&pbp_id=3527654

Replay 3: QB Has plenty of open field and DOES NOT RUN.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2074807&pbp_id=3531014

The QB could've easily ran this and picked up the 1st down. The only player between him and the 1st down was the CB, who probably would've been blocked by the WR.

Instead of running and picking up the 1st down, the QB decides to throw the ball 35 yards into double coverage.

Replay 4: Wide Open Field, and Doesn't Run the Ball.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2074807&pbp_id=3528497

QB Does A Great Job of Moving up in the pocket to avoid the pressure, He should realize that he's got a running lane and decide to take off.

I know How OFTEN the QB runs can be controlled by a slider in the player's Tactics, but I still think something to be done increase the Scrambling QBs ability to see open running lanes.

I know most people will probably say "Oh. . Well Ummmm, He Failed A Vision Check." which seems to be the excuse for most problems.

QB has 76 Vision. also has 133 Speed & 84 Agility.

The ones he doesn't run are 3rd and long.

"run often" is utterly retarded, however "run sometimes" is MUCH better. The only thing run often is useful for is tanking games.

Eliminate QB runs. That would help.

I'm Well Aware of that. Had he decided to run, He could've easily picked up the 1st down.

Yeah, I had to learn that the hard way lol. Run sometimes does seem to work a lot better. I still think something needs work though. Something with the SIM not the tactics. I know there was a really popular suggestion a while back about adding additional sliders to the tactics for Scrambling QBs.

Then you are gonna have a bunch of people bitching that their RQB is running the ball on third down and long rather than passing to the WR.

If you read the link to the Original Suggestion, which I posted above, There's some great Ideas in there. There's a perfect solution listed in their. It just need to be implemented into the game after the Mods figure out how to do it and get it working.

Ya some great ideas for a game a lot more technologically advanced than GLB.

A running QB really isn't viable, just drop the idea. If the QB can't throw, a good DC will shut him down. To be able to pass effectively and deal with the pressure, there is only one build type that will work. This might be the biggest weak spot in the game.

I disagree. It would work just the same as the other sliders. It might take a little longer or a little more effort to do, but It CAN be done. Not saying that it Will, but It definitely should.

Ya this is why Rush Hour is so unsuccessful in GLB....

I know a running QB isn't Viable. That's the entire point of the OP. There's QBs with Build that could be successful at both.

And even If making a running QB viable is not possible in GLB. Then something should still be done to Make SCRAMBLING Better.

The problem:
In real American Football, scrambling isn't just running for the 1st-down marker. In GLB as it currently stands, it is. Going outside the pocket to try and both evade an incoming defender AND give time for receivers to get open is almost nonexistent in the game, and the current "scramble" settings are severely incomplete in this manner.

+1. It allows for the McNabb/Cunningham/Young types, and doesn't force them into the Vick type.
