You see, you think I'm talking about what attributes you chose, which is not the case, but how high you took those attributes. At low levels, you 'must' focus on your primary attribute (s), to take advantage of player building system, otherwise you'll end up with far lower effective level than everyone else, which means a lot lower end-of-build attributes overall.
About the bolded part you're right actually.

OK, I'll explain my decisions and you can explain why I'm wrong, how's that?
Strength - 13
I added 3 points to strength because even though he's an elusive back, he still needs additional strength to fight off would-be tacklers
Speed - 20
I added most of my points to speed and am training it because, well, speed is a focus for an elusive back, obviously.
Agility - 17
I want his agility to be almost as high as his speed so he can move side to side better. He is after all an elusive HB.
Stamina - 19
I added 9 to stamina because I want him to play longer and get more experience.
Carrying - 11
I slacked off here because, well, it's only carrying. I don't plan for him to get tackled much, so fumbles won't be an issue. I will add more later.

Ok, let me explain this. You see, your idea of distribution actually makes sense for a final level build. However, you are just getting started with your player. Low level players tend to be 'one sided' (so to speak) to take most out of their automatic level gains, therefore have better final builds. I could explain this better, but would require a lot of time, so I'll try to make it simple.
Low level players are not balanced, because our objective is not to have the best first season possible, but the best career possible. Also, if you think about an HB, you said yourself that speed is the focus for a elusive back, so... if you go with 20~ speed against my rookie LBs with 48~, I think they are going to win. Why? Because your guy still low level, he can't really use his elusive moves yet, so I won't see him breaking tackles or faking my guys, therefore, my speed wins. Your speed could win tho, if you were as fast or faster, because HBs are not as heavy as LBs, so you get acceleration and speed advantage towards LBs.
If you go for speed only for now until you reach your 5th cap, you'll have the fastest player on the field, therefore the advantage and you won't sacrifice your long term build.

Not sure what automatic level gains are. Most improvements are not automatic and gained through hard work, practice and perseverance (training).
If all my points were spent in speed, he would be faster but with no stamina, so he would be finished (~10 breath) quickly. I want him to keep going all the way to the end (zone).
Further, without agility he couldn't change direction quickly. I bet your linebackers continue in the same direction and over shoot (and miss) all the time. Probably are often one (play) and done. Halftime will never be finished early or overshoot.

I side with Puma on this one. I was wondering about that dot when you added him , I always wondered what would happen if you go extreme but math it out on the roll instead of straight up extreme from the start. I'll have fun watching him if you go through with it. It's how I always thought building should be in this game anyway , this extreme formula is boring as hell.

You are absolutely right and completely wrong at the same time.
You are right about thinking he'd have no stamina and that he'd end with 10 breath. Also you're right when you said he'd have a hard time changing direction. However, you are tihnking of him like a Pro player, and not as a rookie.
Even if he has the agility and the stamina you are purposing atm, he wouldn't last long and he wouldn't change direction effectively. You see, 17/19 is really low. Rookie dots are like a 7 years old kid starting on football. You may have a kid that knows a bit more than another kid about football, but that wouldn't really matter in a long term run, once the other kid will eventually learn what he must know. However, if your kid is slower than the other kid, the other kid has advantage, because at age of 7, we are looking for 'natural talent', not a football genious. We'll train this natural talent to be a great player in Pro leagues.
Also, it's important to notice that by the start of his second season, my LBs will have more speed and more agility than your HB if you don't take the same path. My LBs atm have 113~ speed and 80 agility. Your HB wouldn't be able to reach that if he wanted to at this level if you follow a different way of building. You'd probably have more stamina tho, but yet, I can find ways around it, through VAs and other things.
Believe me, I'm trying to help you.

I don't know. The puma dots we have on cult teams suck. Smeone should teach him how to build so he stops giving us his stupid advice. This is why we only won competitive three and not elite one, MITH.
We need to become better builders and win some really trophies for our network to get some respect.
