I don't know if this is on here already as part of the game or has anyone suggested gettiing a bonus for backups playing behind starters for their builds during the entire season not just boost their play or moral during a game.

Like in the real game where backups play behind veterens during their careers and the veterens teach them to get better and make the backup (hopefully) better from year to year. The extra point bonus (or five point bonus) at the end of the year can be assigned randomly by the computer and may encourage players to play backup postion more.

Like I said.. I haven't been here in a few years and I know about the moral boost for veterens, so I apologize if this has been suggested and/ or implemented before.

it sounds fun in theory , but then everyone would demand they are NOT starters.

plus aside from specific build types (such as Blitzing LB) most reserves get in as many plays, or close to it, as starters anyways.

Completelt agree with everything. Sounds cool, just doesn't really fit this game

The negative nancy's are correct as stated in OP.

But you could probably find a way to make this work.

Something like the QB3 slot who can't really play but is there for the experience.

Way back in the day I had suggested a "practice squad" of X players who would be dots that were associated with the team but not actually on it, the benefit being that they could sign with the team with no chemistry hit at a later date. And you would have the age limit lower for those 8 slots so you could sign guys in reg pro to your nat pro team to the practice squad and then the next season they could sign with no chemistry hit. But in the meantime, to let them play, they could be on another team.

You could do something along those lines for this idea. But maybe let the dot actually sign. Have an extra slot on the roster, 56th man, that is your QB3. He gets experience, his age may be one age level lower than the teams age. But he either doesn't play at all or is only allowed to play 10 plays a game or something like that. And like the OPs idea you could even give him some benefit in training gains, or veteran points or something. But the player could only be a QB3 for one season per age range and could only do it on alternate seasons.

The benefit would be being able to tie in a younger player for the future, and getting the chemistry hit for him out of the way earlier and it would give the game alot more slots for QBs that would soak up what is an over populated position right now.

Kinda clunky in concept, arguably not worth the benefit. But it could be done and it might be worth doing.

-1 to the added suggestions that Yello1 outlined and if I am not mistaken Bort and Co has said that added positions such as the QB3 are NGTH.

less custom slots...not more.

Also -1. Giving any sort of bonus's to backup's is a pretty silly idea. Giving bonus's to any player for being not as good as the guy ahead of them is even more silly.
