I have to admit I do not study real football enough to know if this is legit or not.

But check out this play here.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2023326&pbp_id=4652655

Looks like the return team pancakes four or five of the coverage guys, and then runs past their smouldering remains seeking new targets.

But there aren't any.

Meanwhile the now unblocked defenders spring to their feet and rush to make a play. They didn't here, but they could have.

I've seen someone post where a rushing DE did the same thing to make a sack, fall down and let the OT waltz past him.

My suggestion is to have the blocker make a vision check before moving on from his kill. If passed and there is not another defender to be blocked, stay and keep the pancaked defender down if he tries to get up (aka block him).

Thoughts?

The reason it's called a pancake is because the blocker usually falls on top of the guy, taking him out of the play.

Doesnt just happen on returns either -- I've witness plays where a OT will cake a DE - then move to help the G, just to let the DE get up and make the sack.

Well done Yello.

How do you know those dots don't have 15 in Never Give Up?

Well done Yello.

dont give him credit for an idea that has been floated out there many times. we'd never hear the end of it if this ever gets implemented.

funny you say that, because cut blocks usually make the defender fall on the blocker, yet the blocker still gets up and continues cutting. I dont know if they still do it this season because i cant watch replays on this painfully boring sim

I want to say +1 to this suggestion... because it makes a lot of sense... but... i really feel like this would end up really really messy... I mean... I feel like we'd see a really weird behavior by blockers because Bort would make some weird vision checks and we'd see blockers standing still waiting for them to get back up and/or just slowing before before going to the next target and/or waiting on other blockers pancaked guys and/or just doing some other weird things....

but oh, what the hell... +1 I guess

back in season 2 or 3, b4 shrinking dots, i had a lb playing prpp, and it would look like he'd be jumping up and down on a player that had obviously been pancaked. was really funny to watch
