Rather than seeing the number of times a play is called, total yards gained, and the average as it is now (with collective numbers), it would be very helpful if the data included the result for each play. This, because it takes too much time to sort out in its current form and the collective data can be misleading.

For example, if I see that HB Blast Weak was called 5 times, for 45 yards, and 5 yards average, I think I've got a play that will steadily deliver 3-7 yards. But if I look at the plays individually, I find out that the play delivered big once for 40 yards, but delivered TFL's or very short yardage the other 4 times.

So I'd like to see:

Play Yards
HB Blast Weak -2
HB Blast Weak 1.5
HB Blast Weak 40
HB Blast Weak 0
HB Blast Weak 5.5

Is that possible? It sure would help to reduce the time needed to set up play-calling AI.

Thanks.

Um...you can do this.

If you are scouting, which you obviously are since you see that HB Blast Weak was called 5 times, for 45 yards, and 5 yards average. All you have to do is, in the cloumn that says "called", just click the #, and a list of the plays will come up, with each individual result.

Thats what i mean, because i know my explanations can make no sense sometimes lol

Okay - That's not what I mean. I know that you can do that. What I'm saying is, doing what you photbucketed for 100 plays over 4 games (the bigger the sample, the more meaningful the data) is way too cumbersome.

I copy and paste into excel so that I can sort through lots of data very quickly & quickly know what plays work in what circumstances (or, at least I would if the data was available in the way I suggested).

I didn't ask for it in the suggestion (one thing at a time), but it would also be cool if the circumstances (down and YTG, quarter, time remaining) associated with each time the play was called was available.

So dream come true would be (for each play in the querie).

Play / Yards / YTD / Down / Field Position / Qtr / Time Left / Score

If that was available, it would be possible to run one querie with all of the data you want and then copy and paste it into excel. After which you could set up filters and statistical analysis anyway you like. Which altogether means -- much, much more efficent analysis for both setting up AI and game planning.

Another approach that would accomplish the same thing (but may be easier from a programming perspective)..., add a column to the play by play to include the play called.

So it looks like this now:

10:33 3rd & 2 OPP 37.5 Colton Shearer rush up the middle (4.5 yd gain) [tackle: Grits'n Gravy] Replay

Suggest an alternative approach to accomplish what I'm looking for would be to change it to add:

10:33 3rd & 2 OPP 37.5 (FB Dive) Colton Shearer rush up the middle (4.5 yd gain) [tackle: Grits'n Gravy] Replay

EDIT: oops, one other chage would be necessary for the above to work -- yards gained would have to be in a separate column.

In fact, I think I would like this approach even more than the one suggested (let's me see who got the ball).

Yea im not sure if any of this will happen. You may as well just ask bort to do all of your scouting, lol.

pretty sure you can analyze 4 games.

Seems to me it would be easier for Bort to just give us the raw data in a format that we can manipulate as desired rather than the current approach (with queries already built in). That's a far cry IMO from asking him to do my scouting.

Not saying that you can't. But drilling down to the relevant data is next to impossible if you have a life outside of GLB.

This +1

+1 to more use of the computer programming to allow greater sifting and sorting of data in a more easily accessible form.

Its what computers are for, after all.

I would love to have the offense play call in the pbp text, with the call linked to the play diagram.
