One of the guys on a team I head coach/co-own is third in the MVP race, trailing two players who have worse statistics (sacks etc) than he does. By far.

Its only when you turn on the blow out filter that his stats drop below theirs. Therefore I presume that this is what the MVP calculator does.

At first blush that makes sense. Here's the thing.

All three dots are in the same conference. They obtained those statistics playing games against the same teams. My guys dot has the better statistics but is being penalized with a blow out adjustment because he was on a better team that devastated its competition, the same competition these other dots faced and could not beat.

That makes no sense.

I suggest the raw stats be used when making MVP considerations, at least as to dots who have shared opponents.

Hence why he has the better stats. This is literally the entire point of having blowout adjusted stats, so that superior teams cannot statwhore and monopolize MVP trophies, the whole rich getting richer thing.

For offense maybe.

But being on a better team should generate LOWER stats for a Defensive player, since they would be on the field less. Also the better the defensive edge the more sacks by DTs and LBs blanking out the DEs.

Exact opposite. Most blowout games result in the superior team's Defense spending more time on the field allowing them at least 3 plays to rack up tackles/sacks/etc.
The superior team's offense often scores in 1-2 plays, and that's assuming the PR doesn't run a bunch of punts back.

And DEs get plenty of blowout sacks regardless of what other positions are doing.

I was under the impression that blow-out adjusted stats were for instances that not every team had the OPPORTUNITY to get a blow-out by facing a terrible team. In this case, all teams have the same opportunity, so why take away what one team/player was able to do? I understand the whole rich-get-richer thing, but again... why reward someone for being WORSE? I can't stress it enough... those other players had the exact same opportunity. They played the same teams, etc. Yet one player significantly outperformed the others.

teams Gut mid season, teams sign players mid season, chemistry is garbage early on. Too many variables.

Not only do teams gut midseason - but you also have teams saving boosts until certain times, or using promos for home games. Because of this, teams aren't the same throughout a season and there can be big differences even given the similar schedules. It's -1 for me.

A better solution might be to fix how blowout adjusted stats are calculated. But I have no idea how to do that.
