Lately, I have seen a lot of people saying that they want more to do in this game. Those of us that don't OC or DC or really get involved in the game beyond building our own dots have little to do on a day-to-day basis. In response to that comes the following:

When creating a player, have the option to create a "casual" or "standard" player. This is NOT the same as the current "casual" league.

A standard player: GLB as we now know it.

A casual player: GLB as we now know it, but four times faster. Simple, uncomplicated, gameplanning, if any at all. This type of player is only for people that want to build dots, and don't care about the playcalling on O or D.

It is four times faster in that: At the start of the Day, player gains customary 50 daily exp. Then there is a game, with another 500 exp. Then a second Day (in the same calendar day) with another 50 daily exp and a second game with 500 exp.

As you can see, this is much faster than the current model. All else stays the same in terms of SAs, VAs, SPs gained per level, boosting, etc.

A "casual" player can never switch over to a "standard player" and vice versa. It is a designation that is chosen at player creation.

I see what you are trying to get at here but is splitting an already dwindling user base the best way to go?

If it invigorates them by giving them something that they want, then yes.

I would be a happier crappy-dot-builder, and thus more likely to spend my money. Others that think the way I do would likely feel the same.

And I would be surprised if most agents didn't try the "casual" gameplay while still maintaining more of a presence in "standard".

Yeah I agree. My reason for the -1 still.

I wouldn't because I still want my dots available for a team that I own or someone else owns that needs it. This idea kills those dots from being used in the regular leagues.

I don't see how "splitting" the userbase would hurt, if the reason for the "split" is to make one side of it happier.

and one side to fail which would cause bort to lose money then bort would end up shutting down the other side too.

so much win if you want to ruin GLB.

A "GLB Turbo" league might be interesting. Not sure your scheme is precisely how it should be done though. One a days maybe. Half Price Players. Two seasons to every regular season. Owners can own 3 such teams in addition to their normal ownership.

On Day 41 have the option to Convert Players to Regular Leagues by paying a one time flex fee equal to their entire cost to that date, double their age.

I'd probably do it then just to accelerate the builds on some players.

Problems would be, could the server even handle a midnormal season turbo season switch?

-1 part of the problem with owning a lot of players is having to update too many things on each guy. APD has increased the workload already. I own 55 players and today I had to add a VA point to about 12. Clicking on 12 guys with 3-4 clicks each is a pain in the ass. If I had to do that more often then I do now it would be real boring and probably cause me to lighten my player load.

While speeding up players seems good on the surface, in reality for the guys with a lot of players it adds more work

Lot has been taken away. Such as trades, choices involved with builds, team and player money variables. Making things easier has taken away too many options and things to do that made it more interesting.

What they need to do is make two leagues, one that uses the pre-made AI and one that uses the regular AI, cut the roster Max down to 45.

I find it weird that people say its splitting the user base. I would love to see something like this. I might start spending money again.

I feel like the people that dont like this are the ones saying the user base would be split. Hell if it was split that just means the idea was great and a large amount of people wanted it.

I would see it being used by both groups really. If the regualr guys wanted to try a new build what better way then an accelerated format to see you dot fly through the leveling process and you can track his results to which you might adjust one of your other dots.

Im sure there are plenty of people like the op and myself that just want to log on and see what their player did, make any adjustments and then log off.

New players could use this to find out they want to be more involved and move on up to the big leagues.

I think in the end it means more money for Bort and the gang to buy whores and coke with.

There clearly is a demand for more games, judging from the use of both planned and unplanned scrimmages, and that demand is currently monetized at 25 flex per team per game. GLB would be foolish to just give that away.

The only bone I can see being thrown to mere dot-builders would be a rookie development league, all CPU-owned teams, that plays daily for half the game XP. I wouldn't let any dot older than 40 days participate, though.

If you -1, you alienate a large portion of the user base.

If you +1, you alienate another large portion of the user base.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

I say +1 because a game where you have to wait two days for anything interesting to happen is pretty lame.

They just need to add some browser based mini-games like the farmcity crap on Facebook. Make mini games an alternative to shopping for EQ. Make it football related somehow, and your "level" is reflected by your dots level in GLB. Essentially a mini game for each dot. Not add anything that is OVerPowered, just same randomness we currently get from the store. Well, possibly a little less random, if people want to take the time to play the mini game their chances for better, more position specific pieces would be slightly increased.

Add other things like a probowl voting page , just more "fluff". I think the player builds are plenty fast enough now since the APD addition, but more things for the casual user would help grow and then keep the userbase .
