EDIT - to be clear this is asking for a new Defensive Play Creator Primary Tactical Setting for players, Go To Zone Slowly.....not just a rant.....

Right now we have Go to Zone Immediately and Go To Zone.

Players in Go to Zone are all the way back in their zone before noticing the play (even with visions over 85 and Super Vision SA north of ten). So thats about as immediately as you can get. Immediately must mean they start there?

In any case, please give us a setting that will allow the defender to first check for a run play BEFORE sprinting ten yards away from the flipping line of scrimmage.

It would be nice to have an ability to have a guy sit in a run defense but once he is SURE its not a run then drops back into zone.

As it is, they may as well begin back in the zone for all the frigging good it does lining them up at the LOS.

Run a different defensive play if you think they are running the ball.

What play would that be? parking the guy out there with the hb fb strong/weak as coverage and zone or blitz as secondary? Tried that too, they immediately go to the secondary, one time blitzed past the hb primary cover running his route to where the safety had been put to wait for him..

So as it is, if I think he may sweep I have to waste a player parked in the flats with no secondary at all???????

So he has to stand there like a statue even when the qb is in the pocket and the hbs are out on opposite field routes?

Thats not logical.

And no zone works. Just dropping to the outside under pulls them off the play and into the pulling line or te blockers. Thats the situation that brought me here. Flats pulls him off position as he follows the WR, same result.

In fact all three of those situations happened on both sides of the field last game.

Broken dumb azzed system needs to be fixed.

Rage retired a QB and WR today rather than buy flex I am so disgusted with this illogical crap.

Other DCs have no problems. Watch how they do and maybe fix some builds.

I have tried that - to the point of directly copying some top shelf WL plays even I got so desperate lol.

Some of the problem is the builds I am sure. EL says so, particularly with some of my DL issues I guess (though with 150+ str and 80-90 Agi etc etc youd think they would stop guys and they used to).

But the issue with this particular SS with his very high vision and Supervis SA on top of that, its baffling. He should not be missing vision checks. This has to be the system.

And there should be a way to put a guy in a spot and say "wait for the runner/receiver here" and have him do so, but ALSO let him drop back when the play is not coming his way. One that actually works.

Go to Zone Slowly would seem to be the solution. Make him wait a click or two before moving to the secondary assignment. Would it be so wrong? As an option???

Why not move him further away from the zone so it takes him longer to get there

LOL.

I have tried so so so many different tricks to try and make the man secondary tools not frak me over but rather work as intended.

Its just nuts.

Short of wasting an inside defender in the flats (who can get blocked out by pullers anyway) or just having a safety or CB Stand out there, there doesn't seem to be a reliable method of having someone there to meet a sweeper.

If there is, other than having better faster dots of course, I have yet to stumble across it.

Nope, sweeps and screens...D is reliant upon super high vision and speeds, or 'wasting' a guy in Zone flats.

Ugh yeah used to do a lot of that, DEs spent some time there. But then I got hit with OffTackle runs against the absent DE.

Speed and vision we have. I try not to sign anyone under 140 speed in the secondary or LB corps and look for good vision as well.

Doesnt seem to help.
