From the guy who brought you the scrims on demand -

My biggest frustration with GLB right now is the amount of changes to the coding and interactions when meaningful games are being played.

I propose that GLB offer ONE free scrim per team per day during days 41-48 and half price scrims for each additional scrim. The primary purpose of these scrims is to provide Bort with a large pool of games to observe the impact of sim changes. The end goal is to have ALL planned changes implemented prior to day 0 of the new season.

This new system would ensure a level playing field for all teams for the entire season. Changes to the sim engine after recruiting and VA resets is quite frustrating indeed. Changes to the sim engine after investing XXX flex in insta-scrims to perfect your AIs is enough to make a guy rage.

-1 because (see below) he wants then to lock in any mistakes that remain after the off-season for the season at that point no matter what.

Basically it would work like this...

The coders play around with things they'd like to see in season 28. They run trials on the test server. They log suggestions and think about where they want the sim to be in s28.

At rollover on the last day of the season (day 40), Bort unleashes the new code. On day 41, the servers are packed with games. Feedback is solicited, and early issues are identified. The coders make corrections and upload fixes (maybe on day 42, 44, 46, and 48).

On day -8 of season 28, "it is what it is" for better or worse. Any lingering issues will be addressed on day 41.

I'd disagree with this part. Hopefully most stuff will have been cleared up by then, but they should feel free to fix anything buggy or unbalanced especially until the season starts, and depending on the severity, even after the season starts.

Then you should -1 this suggestion (which is fine).

The whole premise of my suggestion is to completely eliminate changes after on/after day -8 to allow teams to wrap up recruiting, assign VAs, and establish game plans and philosophies without fear of a radically revamped sim engine.

Changed my above vote to -1. My belief is that you never let a bug or imbalance remain in the game if it's identified, except if it's both minor enough and actually in-season.

My belief/hope is that imbalances are identified and corrected prior to the start of the season and when meaningful games are being played. That's the whole premise of this suggestion and the reasoning behind the free/discounted games... to provide a large amount of game tape for Bort to make adjustments in a more timely manner.

Shouldn't be long before we get where we want to be (out of beta) and changes are a lot rarer anyway. This would be a major step closer to that final goal.
