The other thread title made me think of an idea. So blame him.
Nothing about contract length or anything, but teams do tend to have a "Star" who the team uses to promote the team, and that star gets some recognition as a result.
Soooo
Why not have a player the team owner can designate the Star of the Team. The designation could only be made during an offseason and can not be changed if you have a Star Of The Team stll on the roster (ie you have to trade McNabb before annointing Vick). This could have any or all of the following "benefits". If any one is NGTH, skip it, leave the rest.
1) Add a window to the team page to show the Avatar of the designated Star Of the Team like but separate from the team leaders windows. If you moved the trophy window left or right an inch and narrowed the chemistry window it could be to the right corner or left of the trophy window, or you could make the owner note taller and narrower and put it next to that. Also include the Star Avatar whereever possible in game replays match ups etc.
2) Highlight the Star Player Icon or listing in replays. EDIT perhaps making the dot a subtle star shape instead.
3) Give a Fame reward to the star player.
4) Give a Morale/Confidence bonus to the star player.
5) When offering a contract to a player who is a Star Player or was in the prior season, his minimum contract offer cost is increased by 10-20% or so.
6) Add a scouting tag "Star Player".
EDIT
7) Add a percentage bonus to fan support equal to his effective levels over his actual level times his player type (ie 1 for normal players, 2 for 200 flexers like Fbs and 3 for QBs HBs WRs). So if his effective level is 3 more than his level and he is the QB then you fan support would be +9% across the board (this being multiplicative of existing fan support, not a straight plus, though it could be that too but might be too strong then).
