The other chemistry thread seems to be focused on changing the entire system.

I just wanted to suggest that if a player's contract expires but gets resigned in the off-season, the team shouldn't lose the chemistry points accrued from signing the same players on the previous-season's roster.

It doesn't make sense that the team takes a hit on chemistry while the player is going through "contract negotiations" and resigns with the team. Perhaps you can roll in a time-factor with Chemistry degradation such that if a player takes 10 days to re-sign vs. 20 days to re-sign, then the Chemistry slowly reduces until the player is re-signed. But for players who's contracts ended on Day 40, but re-signed on Day 41. Why would the team take a Chemistry hit? Especially since the roster is entire the same from one season to the next?

As new players are added, a Chemistry drop makes sense. Existing players from the previous season re-signing immediately after the season ending not so much.

So -- CJ2k's hold out at the beginning of the season had nothing to do with team chemistry?

Get your dots to sign their extension before the current contract runs out.

I'm -1 here

there are sometimes that people have to be away from the game around the end of the season. I know some of the military guys will miss time every now and then and all of us have RL issues that pop up every now and then. no need to hurt the team over something the players couldn't avoid and missed a few days signing the extention.

Meh. It's only a 2-point hit as described now (-1 for the contract expiring, -1 for re-signing during the offseason). I'm not sure that's worth even addressing given how quickly chemistry is restored.

If 5 or 6 players were owned by 1 agent then this could be a big change. I am just saying that not all players own just 1 dot on a team.

I would question why contract extensions were not sent 1-2 weeks before the season ended as opposed to waiting until the last minute.

All good points out there, but the point I'm trying to make is that it doesn't make sense to take the hit, regardless.

Drew Brees didn't get a new contract after his record-setting year yet...do you think when he gets a new contract with the Saints this off-season the Saints are going to take a team chemistry hit? Not likely.

-1 for off season signing and -1 for contract expiration compounds pretty quickly with it counting against each player.

It just doesn't make sense to me if you think about RL professional teams. Unless you're a super-star having a great year that warrants getting a mid-season contract extension, every other professional player will have to wait until the off-season to make contract moves, and if teams re-sign the same guys for the next season, the expectation is that they're keeping the chemistry of the team intact.

taking a chemistry hit on Day 40 without a contract in hand isn't realistic if the player doesn't end up leaving the team. Again, I would be all for creating a incremental decrease in chemistry based on the length of period between expiration and re-signing,

Okay, I'll get off my soap box. I know it's not RL, just a game, but hey it's still BETA right?
