As is the OAI interface is defaulted to Use Basic Settings for setting the assignments for the TE BTE HB and FB when choosing an individual play out put. It would be nice if somewhere at the top of the OAI page I could change that default setting to one or the other either for all of the receivers or for each type. I generally like to use Play Default unless there is a need to hold a receiver to block, and making me change it for every play I enter is just cruel.

use packages and you can do exactly what you are asking for. it takes a few minutes on the initial set-up but it gives you exactly what you are asking for here.

also don't say I do not understand or any of the usual crap. I read what you wrote and I understand what you said.

I know, and I generally prefer packages. But sometimes I just dont have the time, because they do take longer to set up.

Usually my time is such that I am jamming in adjustments at the bell.

not trying to be a smart ass but this goes back to something I had said to you earlier in the year. you could essentially spend less time trying to improve every aspect of the game with so many suggestions. and use that time to actually put forth a better effort for your teams.

and before you start the usual BS that I am trying to tell you not to post suggestions or I am trying to stiffle your freedom to suggest things. that is not at all what or why I am saying this. I am saying this because you said in your above post that you don't have the time to put into your team and put things off until the last second and try to jam things into your AI. my point is cut the time you are in the suggestions forum and spend that extra time on your team and you would more than likely see a improvement in your teams success and a profound drop in the problems you have on the game.

Less teams owned by a person would give a person more time to do this.

He knows he will never be good at this game so his only way to leave his mark on this game is to hope one of his suggestions sticks.

+1 especially because the stock AIs do not use packages.

That is entirely true, but I like to do both. Chatting on the forums is entertaining and so is Dot Maintenance. Sometimes I am in the mood for tinkering other times for talking.

And making suggestions is usually about trying, however futile the effort may be, to make the game a better place - AND to entertain myself because I like to make games.

If this is true then why bitch and moan about the mistakes that you make all the time. you are telling everyone right here that you put off stuff until the last minute. It is no wonder you make a ton of mistakes and no wonder why you make suggestions due to those same mistakes. if you would actually take the time to do things right in the first place then no one would have to make a bunch of changes to fiw the mistakes you make.

I have to agree with this. You would be better served if you didn't rush everything. You may even surprise yourself.

I know you can do this with packages, because that's how I do it. Could you also accomplish this with a saved OAI (or three?) Each saved AI has a different combination of settings?

I have packages where the only difference is who I hold in to block.

ie:
I-Form Pass Blk: HBFB (that would run plays from I-Formation, holding both backs to pass block)
I-Form Pass Blk: FB (that would run the exact same plays as above, but hold the FB only)

Once the first package is built, it's easy to 'save as' and give it a new name after you've changed the settings. So it only takes a few seconds to build a set of packages.

I'm not really for or against the OP's idea, but since this can be accomplished with packages my I'm voting 'no'.

Hatch can you really not grasp the concept of not judging the user but fixing the program?????

If a game designer sits in Judgement of his users instead of seeing where he can improve his interface, he will be out of work in due course.

User Friendly. Its an important concept. If thats not doing it for you, think Idiot Lights on cars. Yes we should all be able to read an oil guage and a temperature guage and so forth and so on. But they put those in as well for a reason.

People are going to make mistakes. Not just me.

Now if you will excuse me, I have three Nat Pro games today, time to get scouting!
