Now we can discuss the stupid trade they just did, getting rid of 2 of their best young players for a decent starter who is a clubhouse virus

protip - he's a great starter

buuuuuuuuuuuuut...his fastball is p straight and when he's bad he elivates it. That does not mix well with the small ballparks in the NL Central.

Would you rather have:
1 good starter

OR

Great hitting 1B
1st round C
OK Starter who has had great seasons
Some minor league pitcher

As a Padre fan I love it. But don't kid yourself. Latos has a good arm and should do well.

Well Latos should be under contract "on the cheap" for a few years iirc. So you got that going for you. Time will tell but at first glance it seems like the Pads just all over'd.

well yeah but that didn't seem like a huge deal at the time, and Vólquez had a great 2008 season
