Okay the "All CPU" team was neat and funny. But now (okay okay after one beat me in the playoffs, but still) its just getting silly and demoralizing to those being beat up by this "exploit".

Yes CPU players should be competitive. Its really necessary where its sometimes hard to get a full roster of players to join an underachieving or lower level non-networked team. Just how competitive any given CPU player should be is a matter of debate.

However I think what is relatively non debatable is that no one really enjoys playing teams filled with CPU players, especially not one with a human driving the AIs and working to exploit the CPUs better qualities. Its frustrating and we have seen more than one or two posts about people asking why should they bother building dots if the CPUs are so good etc.

So....

Cap the Morale and Chemistry of teams that have more than some given acceptable number of CPUs on their roster. Say the penalty would trigger at any CPUs over 2 at WL/National Pro, and add 2 more per level down the league ranges (aka 4 at National Reg Pro, etc). Each CPU above the cap would lower the maximum morale and chemistry by one each. So if you have 7 CPUs on a National Pro team your chemistry would not be able to go higher than 95 and players morales would be reduced to 95 at game start (where from it could be effected by salary and promotions etc normally). And a team with 55 CPUs would have a max chem and morale at National Pro of 47 each.

The numbers are of course debatable (penalty and base acceptable numbers could be more or less) but what do you think of the concept?

Link to what you are referring to? Is it a team that is completely CPU or partially CPU?

Well I am suggesting this broadly.

As to a particular team, the Devonport Devils were pure CPU in playoffs, and the All Good Things have maybe four players in Oceania Pro.
Devonport, formerly of WL

But I am not complaining of these teams. They aren't doing anything wrong.

The problem is with the CPU system. Bort has made them tougher, which is a good thing to a point when they are gap fillers. But the upshot of that is that when they are a whole team or broadly used they are too competitive, reducing some of the player enjoyment of the game (both because they are frustrated that their paid for two year old dots are being beaten by free insta droids, and because their players could not get slots on a team because CPUs were stealing their jobs like migrant workers.

The Luddite vote is duly noted, however CPUs being machines I believe you are required to hate them.

More to the point, you are hating the players by loving the Droids. Yes I suppose I could have game planned better against Devonport (though the same gameplan made a closer game in regular season against I think players not droids), and I did out game plan the AGT droids. But the fact remains that the emotional responses and lack of roster spots for players that these CPU Only clubs generate is a genuine player satisfaction issue. And I know luddites have to love the players, right?

Nah... until Bort starts including loom-based AIs, we are fine.

more time worrying about builds and tactics, and less time with bad suggestions = not losing to cpu teams. cpu players are pathetically bad as they are already.

Not like they were undefeated, or will win the Championship. Losing 6 games during the season means there we 6 teams that were better, or played better than a human run team using CPU players. Seems the owner knows what they are doing.

In Reg Pro competitive the CPU players I was able to get a read on all had to have speeds well in excess of 120. For that level of play, thats pretty good actually. I mean, hello they were in the playoffs. That means they were better than half the teams in the conference (+1 since they won the first round too).

Heck I just checked and Devonport won the SECOND round playoff game as well. With 55 CPU players.

Yeah, the CPU players just suck.

Yeah seriously, what? This is an undefeated #1 seed... CPU players should simply not be able to beat that, game plan aside.

If you watch it the DOTS are consistently making elite plays. Just look at the double-coverage hail mary throw that sets up the winning FG. It's not like Coventry's game plan was bad either, they have consistently (undefeated) beaten teams with higher effective levels through superior game planning. The CPU dots simply outplayed the roster of the #1 undefeated team in the conference
