Why not? If a player has an expiring contract and wants to sign with a different team, it would make things a lot easier to have this option. It would also give teams out of the playoffs something to focus on.

I'm sure it would be coded to allow the dot to cache offers. Seems like it would allow more than one offer.

I thought this was a suggestion to prevent teams from getting screwed over when an agent accidentally accepts the wrong offer. No purpose of this suggestion since it's not really securing anything.

This melds into the same issue we talk about every off season and should have been changed seasons ago.
Any teams should be able to make any roster changes they want once they are eliminated from playoff contention.

I like the letter of intent idea in general. Just not crazy about that particular way of implementing it.

how about making all contracts good for just 1 game and make GLB like fantasy football where you can add/drop any player you want game to game, either on the whim of the of the team owner or the agent. Only stay with a team as long as you want to. Only keep dots on your team as long as you want them.
I'm kind of serious here...this would eliminate a whole lot of problems---
for agents:
being rotted by an owner--no problem, you're a free agent tomorrow
not happy with scheme?
want more playing time?
for owners:
facing a team that runs some kind of semi-exploitive offense? just drop your 2 backup DTs and pick up a couple more DBs for one game or whatever you need
need to retool? do it
want to try some different looks from game to game? do it!
got some annoying kid that keeps posting links to octopus porn in your team forum? dump him
for GLB:
would create a whole new dynamic where every day is like days 38 through 42. Constant excitement. Total free agency, empowering the agents in new, exciting ways. Making owners hustle to get and keep the best dots
