Since I have a possession receiver with a high jumping skill who often sees diving tackles - Hurdle just seemed to make sense.

My jumping skill is 68 (nonbooster) and have 4 ranks in Hurdle - and not only have I never seen the "missed diving tackle (Hurdle)" - but my WR has only broken 7 tackles the entire season compared to 5 last year.

Has anyone else found this skill as useless as I have?

We looked at some players in my builds forum...seems to help a little, but not as much as you would think, even with the quick feet bonus. Theres better break tackle SA's out there tho

Build is open... and yeah, Hurdle is pretty useless. I wouldn't base my dots success on it, and I wouldn't ever build towards it, just spend all of your time on Spin and Juke.
Even with the buff to hurdle, he might hurdle 2-3 times a game, however he breaks a lot of diving tackles, so I'd say jumping isn't terribly useless, in fact it seems to play just as big a role in the break diving tackle roll as strength does it appears, maybe even a larger one. But Hurdle seems very useless.

Maybe more FS after the Hurdle would help too...? Pity you don't have Spin to around say 6.

Catch stated in the last Q&A that Hurdle is not intended to be as powerful as Spin or Power Through so I'd not recommend having it as your primary break tackle SA.

That being said, it IS a break tackle SA so you need to supplement it with the usual break tackle abilities (BT% AEQ, strength, carrying, etc.)

Posted stats to answer related questions.

If I dont retire him this season, I may have to try working Juke or Spin as others indicate here.

In any case, the SA which seemed to suit the Possession WR quite nicely has been a complete bust. I wont spend another SP on it, and wish I could get back the 6 SP I did spend....

Dot still has 9 SP's unallocated and another 24 coming from boosts... i'm considering cutting jumping off at 74 and then taking spin to 8 with CEQ.

at 4 i wouldn't expect almost anything to fire..
id take it all the way to 10 and max out quick feet, since it includes hurdle chance too this season so id try to max it out first to 30% then see what results you get. if i start a build one way i keep building it to its full potential until i decide if its a bust or not.
im sure strength and carrying have something to do with it too..

Also remember, Hurdle only works on diving tackles so there is less opportunity for it to fire.
