He's right, but allow me to expand a little bit on what He's saying. As you continue to train and apply Skill Points (SPs) you will encounter specific numbers where the number of SPs necessary to raise an attribute 1 point increases; these specific numbers are called "soft caps". The first cap is at 48.07; from this point to the second cap of 60.52 it takes 2 SPs to raise an attribute 1 point. From 60.52 to 67.98 it takes 3 SPs to raise an attribute 1 point. There are 20 "soft caps" but you'll probably never get past the 9th cap and rarely go that far. (to get a complete list of the caps, go on the main Forum, click on FAQs, click on Guides, go to the "Player Building Related Resources" and click on "Attribute Caps")

The next "given" is the "Auto Level Gain" (ALG). Every time you level (1000 XP or boost) you automatically gain points to major and minor attributes of your player. The points gained reduce by 25% three different times throughout the levels of your player; the player levels being at 22, 30, and 40. The ALG awards 2 points divided among the major attributes and 1 point divided among the minor attributes. Your players position has 4 majors and four minors, so he will gain .5, .38, .28 & .21 for majors at the respective levels and .25, .19, .14 & .11 for his minors.

The challenge is to take the info available and try to maximize the points you can make over the first 280 days in the life of your player. I think that most of the guys in the game feel that it is very important to establish up front what attribute final goals will be and then prioritize them (first thru last) and then train and apply skill points in order of your attribute goal plan. (i.e. take your first attribute to it's final goal before beginning starting your second attribute, and so on. This method, because of ALGs, is the best way to get the most points, and therefore a better player, for your dot.

There are different minor thoughts of the best way to achieve the maximum, such as to start training the second attribute as soon as you start applying SPs to the first, or maybe stopping training at one of the softcaps along the way to the final attribute goal, but that's an individual preference, as you will undoubtedly learn along the way. Trust me, we.ve all screwed builds, but learned in the process.
