I posted this in the bugs section, but it was marked as working as intended.

The kickoff team should continue downfield and try to recover the ball if something like this were to happen.

How do you suggest fixing it and still insuring the return specialist has a chance to pick up the ball before the defense gets to it?

The returner was still heading for the ball,so he still had a legitimate chance of getting to the ball.

You don't see the punt team stopping and waiting for the returner to get the ball,do you?

In reality they wait a few yards away form the return man, I agree this should of been fixed seasons ago. The way it is now you give the guy 40 yards to pick it up and make a run and Ive seen a lot fo times they score because of it. I'd perfer to see them to keep running and then hold their lanes a few yds away form the return man then make the tackle.

+1 to getting this recoded somehow.

How about the returner never whiffs? That would work for me.

Its is working as intended. The punt team doesnt stop because they can down the ball. Bort doesn't want COP on kickoffs unless its a fumble.

There is no reason though for the kickoff team to be stopping around midfield though.
At best they should stop at the 30 and wait for the returner to field it.
I posted a thread not long ago about this same topic and I got a "working as intended" as well.
This should get recoded so the returner doesn't stand 20 yards upfield from where the ball is going to land.

I know it's working as intended, but that's the problem. It's working WRONG as intended.

I have actually waited about 6 seconds on numerous occasions before the KR chased down the ball, in slow motion mind you.

Then you would see the KR team continue on and get blocked. End result would be a 30 yd kick return to about the 30-40 at times.

First time I saw this I was literally fussing at the dots "what the *$%@ are you doing?" lol.

Just weird to see all the players freeze (like Piper Halliwell is the KR), and then unfreeze 5 secs later... one two three, RED LIGHT!

fuck that shit. my returners score all the time when they dont catch the ball, its awesome. only huge flaw i like about this game.
