Oceania Pro League Game of Zeta-Alpha Game of the Week
Dominance needs to be proclaimed by one conference or the other, will it be Zeta or Alpha, which Conference will step up and prove they are the conference taking the championship, furthermore, which team, in this case, will step up and prove to everyone, they are a team to be feared.
Balanced Game of the Week
Carribean Voodoo @ Marblehead Longhorns
This is basically an offense vs. Defense game. Voodoo's Offense vs. Marbleheads Defense. On paper, their are not as even as they'd like on those particular squads. But both of these teams are here to win. I think just about everyone questioned Marblehead on Day one of their arrival but here's their chance to prove that they belong. Can Everett Jaco outpass the likes of Quandre Diggs or will Diggs be taking a couple to the house?
Blowout Game of the Week
Diamond Valley Devil Drivers @ Axis: Pinoy All Stars 2
This game pits a Season 23 Top 4 Alpha team against one of the middle of the road Zeta teams in week 1. Byce Mead Jr III leads an offense that is well rounded and very capable onto the field, the area I think DVDD may be the most lacking however, is special teams. Axis faired very well and there were points in the season where people found themselves wondering if they'd win the League completely. Unfortunately, I think the only highlights in this game are going to be the ones where Axis is demoralizing DVDD's Special Teams, Sacking their QB, and running for long gains and exploring the realm of wanna-be endzone dances.
Upset Watch Game of the Week
Purple Drank @ Komodo Dragon
There is a part of me that really wants to say PD is a top team in Alpha but they're going to have to show it. Their average level is drastically lower than that of Komodo but it wouldn't be the first time that didn't matter. Komodo finished with a good season but it took a very disappointing one to get there, disappointing in the respect that they were upset several times. Purple Drank could use this game to make a statement against a very good team.
Underdog Game of the Week
Compton Panthers @ The GlobeDotters: Indianapolis Gurupies
Compton has drastically improved despite being a bit under in depth. Indy is the #2 Team in Alpha from Season 23. So really, in order for Compton to really make any sort of statement in this game they have to win. With a win, they would definitely elevate themselves as a team to beat right away, but with a loss, no one will really look at them any different. Indy is obviously the favorite in this game, and Compton, I'm sorry, but you're the big time underdog here, use it to your advantage.
Road Warrior Game of the Week
Amsterdam Bulls @ Easter Island Moai
Amsterdam was a team last season that I expected a bigger impact out of, having said that, they still did a great job last season. EIM, honestly, was a disappointment last season, I really was caught off guard by the fact they were..just not that good against some of the more competitive teams. This season I expect bigger and better things, despite having been what I refer to as a disappointment, both of these teams made the playoffs and put up a fight. Amsterdam faces their first Road Team and in this game I think they are the better team, but EIM gets a shot right here to prove me wrong.
Middle of the Road Game of the Week
Brantford Promnight Dumpster Babies @ South Bend Rhinos
I'm not even going to beat around the bush here. Last year, Brantford was a complete disaster, they have the roster to be better they just weren't. South Bend had some competitive games but even they just weren't great last season but they did show a lot of potential. Brantford has a ton of potential too, don't get me wrong and in this game, they probably should be the favorite. That is if they can get motivated long enough to create a solid gameplan and try to win. South Bend and Brantford have a ton to prove and this is their first opportunity to do so. It's put up or shut up time.
**Game Added**
I initially meant to add this game in when I first did the write-up, but for one reason or another overlooked both teams, my apologies**
Brutes Game of the Week
Razorback Nation @ Banzai Pipeline 'Nites
Both of these teams were great last season, I was really impressed by both and have a lot of respect for both teams. Razorback definitely looks like it brought in some upgrades (not 100% sure as I didn't look deep enough into their roster last season to see the difference). I have no doubt that Banzai probably recruited some of their own upgrades and I expect nothing less than a Smash Mouth all out Brawl in this one. If I get a 3-0 game I'm going to say you both suck in week 2
.
OPL Live Game of the Week
Gold Coast Vipers @ Cheers is filmed in front of a live studio audience
With the expectation that GCV is the favorite to win it all, and the quesiton of whether or not Cheers is really a top team in Alpha is what brings us to this situation in week 1.
Vlad Bierko & Mickey Cochran lead two very impressive rosters into this game where anything could happen. I understand that it seems Cheers wants people to underestimate them but I just don't see that happening. This could be the best two teams in the league, but maybe not. This game sure seems like it's going to be nothing short of lights out. Now get out there and impress me.
