Coming back from a long break, just found my players too old to play in their leagues, and decided to retire and make a DE and a DT, how would you guys start them off? Would you guys say that run stuffers are more popular? Or pass rushers? Which is more effective? Which attributes would you start by putting into? Don't need end-game builds, just how to get started. Thanks in advance.

STR first is the best way to make a successful DE/DT imo. Take STR to at least 81 and then the rest is up to you

Depends if the de is a run stuffer or not. If it's not a run stuffer agi is the way, if run stuffer str.
All dt should start with str.

I went 83 str on my run stuffer dt and he's looking really good right now.

for DE i meant Run stuffer or Combo to go STR first. Im making a DE pass rusher archetype now, but i am putting all equiment in STR. He will have 140str 90spd 95agi, and then still have his bonus SAs as FS and TV

Good enough plan for the bonus SA's but 82 or 85 str, 90 spd, 95 agi are pretty low ending numbers.

you can have a good de without being 330-335 in the end numbers if you have a very good combo of aeq/sa/va/equip layout IMO. 5 pts off your top end there isn't the end of the world.

Once you get to 10-15 off though that could start to hurt.

That would be because it used to be alot more efficient to slow build for 2-3 seasons without boosting. It was not until the true multi-train came along that i had any desire to spend the money and make a 72 dot the way i wanted. With the VPB and planning it is easy to see what your builds will look like. MY De's sit at 329 on first and 333 on second, im a bit anal about builds, so my perceptions of what will be needed (noone knows for sure because there are no true multi-train dots in WL yet) may be too stringent, but i am talking to be in the top percentiles, or to excel, not just be a decent body on the field.

EL's don't mean much. Look at the Minister Reggie Whites EL and he didn't give a flying F*** game 1 in WL. Just preseason but just saying.
