http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1901751 - I was undecided on where to go with build and got caught in no mans land. I'm thinking it's going to end up being pretty worthless. Should I just retire or should I just pound jumping and try a towering man build?

Retire. I love making defensive dots, but I completely gave up on DTs a while ago.

Just create DTs with the knowledge that you wont get any stats, BUT they are a must for legitimate title contenders. DT/NT is essential for making everyone else on D look good

Im gonna quit worrying about SPD for DTs and just Pump STR/AGI/VIS/TCK to atsronomical heights

super high tackling doesn't really do anything either. The difference between 85 tackling and 65 tackling is about 3-4 made tackles per season and possibly 1-2 FF if you are lucky.

that's true. What is funny is that tackling raises the pass rushing bar more than speed does.

does tackling perhaps increase the tackling radius?

tackling is still important, just not important enough to need 90 natural

Supposedly, but I haven't seen anything from the teams I GM and have players on which has shown that players with 20-25 more points in tackling get any more tackling opportunities than other DTs on the same team.

I think that old tackling radius argument is BS. It probably increases the radius, but by an amount so small that it's close to irrelevant. Fact is, DTs with 61 tackling perform better than DTs with 85 tackling, simply because they've got SP spent elsewhere.

And, by perform better, I mean they look really, really scary as they rack up the hurries and sack failures.

You must be thinking of DTs before they were limited to the new set positions.

Yeah, that was certainly not the point I was trying to make. Simply that it does not go against intuition that tackling radius helps a DT in pass rush lolbars than speed does. However, it is completely screwed up that it doesn't seem to help much after 65 or so. Though, I do think it is safe to say that nothing really seems to create a DT that perform exceptionally well from what I have seen.
