Sorry to step on your toes Luke, but I didn't know if you were kinda busy this week and I had some free time tonight, so I think I'm gonna take a stab at it this week for fun. So here's Corey Gaudreau's Power Rankings for Week 7 in the USA BBB #1 Eastern Conference:
<>1. Eleven Wise Monkeys 6-0-0
Last week: 1 High: 1 Low: 1
-Team Owner Mykel said it best in one of his posts, both the offense AND the defense are clicking this season for the still unbeaten Eleven Wise Monkeys. However, a season-low 14 points against the Bristol Bullets this week was due to a couple of fumbles lost and holding Bristol to under 150 total yards. It seems to be if its not the offense winning the game, it's the defense, and vice versa.
<>2. Louisville Nighthawks 5-1-0
Last week: 2 High: 2 Low: 6
-Coming off an energy-draining 79-0 win against the lowly Richmond Retros, I wasn't sure if the Nighthawks could handle the Boston Massacre and their high-powered offense. Louisville was my pre-season #2 seed in the East and I'm sticking with them until they prove to me otherwise, very well rounded and a win against Boston secures them the #2 spot again this week
^3. Boston Massacre 4-2-0
Last week: 4 High: 3 Low: 5
-There are several 4-2 teams in the East right now, most of which playing a fairly similar schedule so far, but I think Boston right now is the best one in the bunch so far. Their only 2 losses came against the #1 Monkeys and #2 Nighthawks this week, and beat play-off contending Dallas. Their Defense however needs to catch up to their offense if they want to contend in the east and make a deep run into the playoffs.
v4. New York Warriors 4-2-0
Last week: 3 High: 2 Low: 4
-After losing to the 3-2 Rampage this week New York takes a step down on the power rankings, but only to #4 because of how solid and well-rounded they really are. The Warriors had a chance to win the game at the very end, but were stopped just short as time expired, giving them their second straight loss. But don't fret Warriors, the Richmond Retros are in town next week, look for the New York Warriors to get back on track next week.
^5. Dallas Rampage 4-2-0
Last week: 7 High: 5 Low: 8
-Alright this may be a very, very slight biased pick you may think, but there's plenty of justification. Dallas is coming off a win against the stronger New York Warriors, and the following 2 picks come from head-to-head match-ups;Dallas Beat NYW, NYW beat NYH, NYH beat Bristol. Dallas's defense is once again surprising the league and will need their offense to step it up against Bristol to justify their #5 spot this week.
v6. New York Hope 4-2-0
Last week: 5 High: 5 Low: 9
-New York is riding a 3-game winning streak, and is the favorite in their next 4 games too, however I think their loss to the Warriors vs. Dallas's win against the Warriors is enough to have them get leap-frogged this week. New York may be the most improved team since last season and I would almost guarantee they will make the playoffs this season.
v7. Bristol Bullets 4-2-0
Last week: 6 High: 2 Low: 6
-Bristol has the Dallas Rampage this week, and 3 of their 4 wins were all against some of the lesser teams in the league, so I'm not completely sold on them. Their loss to the Monkeys was somewhat expected, but only allowing 14 points is always a bright spot against the #1 team in the league. A win against Dallas will be big for Bristol to prove themselves worthy of the playoffs later in the season.
v8. Alcatraz Island Jailbreakers 4-2-0
Last week: 8 High: 4 Low: 8
-I again am not completely sold on the Jailbreakers. Much improved since last season, however their 4 wins are against teams that are not going to make the play-offs, and have not played a top-3 team yet. Their remaining schedule is tough and is really going to have to fight for the #8 playoff spot this season. After the Zoners this coming week, they'll have the Monkeys, Rampage, Retros and Massacre. I think they will need to win at least 2 of those games to solidify themselves in this league this season.
^9. Miami Sharks 3-3-0
Last week: 10 High: 9 Low: 10
-The Miami Sharks are most likely going to be the best team to not make the playoffs this year. Their relegation to BBB #1 has turned out already better than their dismal 1-15 season last year in USA A#1. After their win against Richmond, they're back at .500 but match up against the Boston Massacre this week. Starting LOT Donatello Delarenzo is going to be traded by tomorrow, so it seems their team may start to fall apart from unhappy players wanting to leave, making the chemistry even worse than it already is.
^10. Syracuse Souls 3-3-0
Last week: 11 High: 10 Low: 12
-The Souls had a pretty tough beginning schedule this season, and they head over to Louisville this week to take on the 5-1 Nighthawks. The next few weeks are going to be very tough for the Souls, but for the time being, they're my #10 team in the league.
^11. TCC's Wax-Bustin Warriors 2-4-0
Last week: 11 High: 12 Low: 15
-A Tale of Two Seasons for TCC's after being under new management, Jwman92 has been trying to rebuild and is certainly heading in the right direction. A nail-biter against the Musician brings them back up to 2-4 and onto the Baltimore Knights. A win here could bring them higher in the rankings next week if they play like I believe they will against Baltimore.
v12. Cleveland Firebirds 2-4-0
Last week: 9 High: 7 Low: 12
-Cleveland's 3rd straight loss and not even facing the Monkeys, Nighthawks, Massacre or Warriors has me wondering if they'll even win another game this season. John Inman is also to be traded away from an already dismal offense this season and may only get worse from here.
<>13. Hartford Musician 1-5-0
Last week: 13 High: 13 Low: 16
-The Musician almost pulled off a win against TCC's, and I believe they've had a couple games that could have gone either way. I belive 13 is a good spot in the rankings for them for now, with a fairly tough schedule ahead of them in the next couple of weeks.
<>14. Baltimore Knights 1-5-0
Last week: 14 High: 11 Low: 14
<>15. Colonial Zoners 1-5-0
Last week: 15 High: 14 Low: 15
<>16. Richmond Retros 0-6-0
Last week: 16 High: 13 Low: 16
-Unfortunately the Retros are still winless and may not have a shot to win a game until Week 10 or later. Their lack of solid starters and depth just has them outmatched in BBB #1.
<>1. Eleven Wise Monkeys 6-0-0
Last week: 1 High: 1 Low: 1
