The only person who can make you a Gold level talent is YOU!!! But it requires some work on your part...

Step #1...learn the defensive side of the ball first. Pick a Gold team known for good defenses and make a couple defensive dots for them. This gives you access to their build guides and personnel. Plus it gives you access to a Gold level DC if you have questions.

Step #2...buy a Copper team and populate the entire team with your own players and mimic the build guild and personnel used on the Gold teams you are on. Don't bother with CEQ, boosting, or even winning as this team is your learning team.

Step #3...watch your Gold team closely every game and try to figure out their defensive scheme. It's unlikely any Gold owner will give you access to their defense, but most DC's would be more than willing to answer questions, so don't be afraid to ask! When watching the defense, first try to identify all or most of the plays used and when they are called. Most Gold teams use either down & distance or tagging or a combo of both for their play calling. Use this to build your AI.

Step #4...Once you have identified the different defensive plays and when they are called, try to mimic them on your Copper team. This is easier said than done as now you have to examine each play and try to rebuild it. This will take some trial and error and will require you to watch a lot of game film, but this is part of your learning experience. Don't be afraid to ask the DC on the Gold team questions, most of us are more than willing to help someone who is trying to learn.

Step #5...Continue to tweak and adjust your defense throughout the whole season and try to figure out why the Gold team you are on does the things they do and why. Play with your defensive setup and basically learn as much as you can. By the end of your first season, you should have a decent concept on how to run a good defense.

Step #6...Repeat this same process the next season, but on the offensive side of the ball. Your team will now be in Silver and the quality of play will increase, so this will be a good test of the defense you developed the season before. Continue to tweak that defense and turn it into a creation of your own, not just a simple mimic of the Gold team's defense. You don't want a copy, you want to understand why their defense is good and then tweak it into your own creation.

Step #7...By the start of your 3rd season, pending you gave this a good amount of time, you should have a good offense and defense on your hands. Continue to tweak both and watch as many Gold games as you can for ideas on how to tweak your offense and defense.

This does work, it's what I did. I came into PW in S12 having ZERO experience in Pee-Wee. I found a build guide post and followed it when creating my players. I then started to watch Gold games and really tried to understand the defenses they used. I mainly focused on defense my first season and it was defense that helped me win my Copper league. In my next season, S13, I still focused on defense as this one of the slam ball seasons, so offenses were more simple, and to be honest, so were defenses. A good defense helped me win my Silver league and I went to Gold in S14 and never looked back. I am no genius, so if I did it, anyone can, just requires time and patience.

Ya it's easy to bring someone on to your team to install their offense and/or defense, but most people learn better by doing it themselves, so don't hire a Gold level talent, learn is yourself!!!

Yup, this is pretty much what I did, except had Gerr teach me I was completely self taught in offense

you do offense? What you self taught yourself to go find LE????????????

I will add that when mimicking a gold defense don't get frustrated when you can't get your dots to do the same thing as you see. You will drive yourself crazy instead try to understand what they are doing and adjust to it. Ex I see some D's play man with their safeties and still are able to stop outside runs. I tried and was getting killed. Adjusted a little and played a little more zone to the outside to make up for it. Once you get it down you will be adjusting more to your players than anything else.

And find someone to give you a good build guide that will speed up the process.

Awesome tips Gerr!

It's pretty much what I did. By using Thunder's guide, copying a few defenses, and setting up a real simple AI my team went from 8-8 to 15-1 the following season. I did not get on any Gold teams, but I constantly read the Gold forums and watched Gold film.

Anyone who follows these tips will see immediate results.

Ya, Thunder's guide is a great starting point, didn't think about that.

Your guides O and D guide ( http://www.nflfever2.com/Gold/Gold.swf ) helped me figure out much about what I was doing wrong. A bit outdated now but still helpful.

Very helpful Gerr!

I've just made the jump to Pee Wee after a season or two as a relatively noob player and plan on following all of these. I don't come from a NFL background so its been hard trying to understand what the issues are, but thunders guide and your defensive AI have helped a lot.

This is bullcrap.

Here is how you get good at peewee coordinating:

Defense:
Watch gold league games, you will soon realize what the difference between real-life football and GLB football is, learning things that generally have utility in football that don't have utility in the game itself.

Essentially, if you can't find a single team in Gold with any kind of wins to speak of that is doing what you think should be done, its something that likely shouldn't be done... sure you could spend 10 seasons trying to prove me or the entire Gold league wrong, but just know that all of us came in here thinking the same shit your thinking.... and tried it for 10-20 seasons to come up with what we have now.

Offense:
Look at the offensive AI, sure it seems daunting, but once you've figured out how to actually use it... Load up Madden (any year, on any system) and play madden offense using your Offensive AI... essentially after about 3-4 madden games of using your AI exactly you will run in to about every situation you may have not thought of where you may want to do something a bit differently. I promise you this is a great way to come up with situational stuff, when your down 14 points because All-Madden difficulty is too much for your baddy self (god ur bad at madden if your losing to the CPU) and your sick of running the ball on first down when your down on 14 because your OAI on GLB tells you to, then hey... what do you know you make an input for when down by 14 stop running the ball on first down.

Overall:
Every single feature in GLB that exist is there because after 10-20 seasons of coordinators doing this stuff they BITCHED PISSED AND MOANED on the forums for hours and hours to get that feature because of how useful that the knew it would be.... therefore if you OAI/DAI and daily scouting for games isn't using every single feature granted by GLB.... then it sucks and isn't worth even having on your team.

Last but not least:
Watch your games, more than once, and with everything in mind.
Watch your opponents games (more than one) and actually scout not only what plays you should run in what situations, but how you think your players match up against theirs and other things of that nature.

Remember that you should NEVER dismiss something as luck if it happens more than one time in a season, because he may have "luckily" got around your FS who just stood there, but it is a computer simulation and as long as the chance exist for it to happen, then its something YOU have to adjust to prevent in the future, not just hope it doesn't happen again.

Do not copy other people and think your learning stuff... it just won't work... I've seen 200+ half-ass coordinators who copied some Gold team won a few games, got cocky, then never did shit and continued to not do shit until they quit because they couldn't ever win a playoff game...

Don't be that guy.

I agree that it takes a lot of work watch games and trying to figure things out, but copying a current teams defense and trying to figure out how it work is generally easier than starting from scratch. Plus most Gold defenses are very similar, so if you can figure out one team's defense, you can figure out other's pretty easily and then decide what route you want to take.

Strangely, it's you coming up with all the guides and tips and yet the majority of the gold league teams follow my defensive schemes. It's what I called leading with actions.

Haha, I'm just joking with you. It's always good to see people trying to help. Keep it up!

Anyway, scouting is half of the game planning. It doesn't matter what sim it is, if you know what your opponents is going to call then you should always have the upper hand. I've seen some really great coordinators that are somewhat sloppy with technicality, and doesn't have the perfect positioning but still win games due to their scouting skills. And it's why you just can't copy your way to success, especially in the current sim where it forces you to make adjustments.

And trust me, everyone has a pattern when they game plan. Never seen anyone that doesn't have one. Some hide it better than others but it's there. And it becomes even more clear the longer they play.

90% of Gold defenses are a variation on the same theme created over many seasons, so I wouldn't take credit just yet. You did have the best defense in Gold last season, no doubt about that, but to say Gold teams are copying your defensive scheme is a stretch. What's more likely is those teams tweaked their existing defense with some of the things you did that worked, but I wouldn't go as far as saying they copied your whole defensive scheme. This is what people have done season after season, tweaked their current defense with some of the things the top Gold defenses did the season before. I have seen things from Dead.Ed's, jkid2's, and even my defenses through out the seasons, but none of us claimed that most of Gold were using our defensive schemes. Might want to check that ego just a bit.

Hell, if you want to talk about copying, I was one of the first DC's to use outside safety zones to contain the outside rushes instead of simply blitzing the safeties. I can't say for certain that I was the very first, but I was doing it before most were. I went through some of my old game film and looks like I started to use it back in S14, maybe even started to play with it in S13. Now a lot of teams do this, but not once have I ever said people were copying my idea as it's part of the evolution of PW defenses.

Getting back to the topic on hand, as most people have said, becoming a Gold talent takes a lot of time and effort, and the best way is to watch Gold teams in action and try to figure out what they are doing and why. If you want to copy a teams offense and/or defense and tweak them to your style, go ahead. If you want to put everything you have learned into a offense and/or defense of your own creation, even better. Which ever route you decide, just be prepared to spend the time doing the research yourself. Trust us, it does pay off in the end. And if you get good enough to compete at the Gold level, you can compete at ANY level in this game.
