It would be nice to have ALL the progression tabs have a blank/any reciever option.

We may just want to target W2 and TE, then have the QB scan the field for the best option after that. But the checkdown boxes forces you to fill out the rest of the progressions or they will be default to WR1.

I may also want the QB to first scan the field for a few tics to see if there is a mismatch, then throw to HB,WR1, WR3.........
so even the 1st progression tab should have a blank/any wr selection also.

you could have like...

1st progression is wr2
2nd progression is hb
3rd progression is "blank/any" (this would allow the qb to scan and maybe find an open man or favorable mismatch)
4th progression is wr1or maybe w2 again
5th progression could be another "blank/any"

there are many combinations that would be a sweet add on to the passing game.

***EDIT***
my idea of blank/any does NOT mean automatically go to "open man".

it means give the control back to the QB and his build to decide whom to throw to for those few tics. then proceed to the next command in the tree. Just as it would if you did not use the progression tree in the first place.

Whats great about this feature is that you can use it anywhere in the progression tree and not be forced to use the WR1 default that GLB stuck us with. for instance:

you may only want to use 2 slots to focus on, if those are covered too tight, then scan the field for other favorable options. This way GLB cant force us to fill out the rest of the tree if we dont want to. cause it would default to WR1
[wr2] [ ] [hb] [ ] [wr1]

another example: you could start out with the qb trying to find the most favorable option at the beginning of the play for a few tics then follow our commands.

[ ] [ ] [fb] [wr3] [te]

Also add

Open Man - look for players who are calling Im Open or who seem to be Open in that order

First Down Yardage - look for players who are standing beyond the changes as the ball is thrown

Midfield - look for players between the hashmarks to avoid clock stoppage

Sideline - look for players nearer to the sidelines in the hopes of stopping the clock

Favorite Receivers - the QBs first and second favored receivers set in his tactics, if any

Hot Hands - Receivers who have a percentage boost this play, be it from Slow Starter, Streaky, BT expenditure, RedZone boosts, Promotions etc and OR players who have caught the most balls this game this being a check for skill hotness and also good match ups.

As additional "targets" in the check down.

I like it, but I'm not really sure how it would work. It would almost have to be: option 1, option 2, and then begin the pre-programmed progression.

And if you want to do the 'quick scan' and then put in your looks, wouldn't that essentially make your inputs the 6th & 7th progressions?

I think I would just prefer more inputs, TBH. In the lower levels you have to keep the key receiver locked in for 2-4 of the progressions to throw to him, but then if other guys are open they won't get the ball b/c you can't add all of the eligible receivers to the progression. And at the upper levels they get scanned so quickly that you could easily add more progressions and it wouldn't affect much.

while those things would be nice... im kinda going for a more simple add-on in hopes it gets implemented.

if u use the custom progressions...and have a blank in 1,2 or however many slots...the Qb will act as tho their are no progression and scan for what he sees is the best option. if he doesnt find any..then he can follow whats left of the selected progression outputs.

it seems to be a very simple fix for bort. just add a "blank" or "any" in the tab.

good points. but i dont think adding more progressions is needed.

you could have like...

1st progression is wr2
2nd progression is hb
3rd progression is "blank/any" (this would allow the qb to scan and maybe see an open man)
4th progression is wr1or maybe w2 again
5th progression could be another "blank/any"
