While we wait for the sim to fire...

Back in OPL A#3 it was a three-team battle in seasons 4, 5 and 6 between the Solomon Islands Apprentices, the Sumatra Seahawks and the iue5 Sorcerers.

We had some good battles. So who were your first OPL rivals?

Brisbane Heat

Christchurch

First season in OPL was 16, Molokai Lavastorm was an up and coming team of owner droids, and slow built based upon their level. They shot us up.

6th Street Savage Swarm took us in the regular season, and the Sarajevo Donkeys fought us close in the first round of the playoffs.

College Town Feebs beat us in both the regular season and the conference championship game.

But as far as feelings of rivalries go, season 16 began a long run of back and forth contests with the Gold Coast Michelin Men with us taking them in S16 regular season and playoffs to kick off the rivalry. They got paybacks down the road.

First season with my first team was in Oceania AAA in Season 1, the original OffTopica Forumites, and one of our regular combatants in those days starting in Season 2 was our very own Oberon Bulls.

We have not been in OPL long enough to have any major rivals. However, we were in Oceania AA 4 from Season 3 thru 8 and some of our rivals made it to OPL. Our big rivals were Guadalcanal Gunners, Perth Pirates, Alice Springs Rock Wallabies, and several others I can not remember (will update if my brain cells start working).

I think we are becoming rivals as we speak Big games make big rivals.

Christchurch Maori was our first, and main rival. We came up in the "always moving up despite how you finish" era, and Christchurch was with us for most of that time (although, they got to OPL one season before us).

Orcland Raiders were with us every season as well, as were the Lichtenstein Lycans.

Our first big 3 were:

Avondell Raiders - Though this matchup was awfully one sided, BDC vs. Raiders was a pretty good matchup. The bad part was for like 3 seasons in a row the Raiders always found themselves against BDC in the first round of the playoffs. And each time BDC would knock them off.

Banzai Pipeline 'Nites - Probably one of BDC's biggest OPL rivals are the 'Nites. Early on BDC was one of their many wipping boys, but as BDC ramped up they managed to start competing and eventually beating them. If I am not mistaken the score right now is tied 5-5 in regular season/post season Oceania games.

Barossa Grapestompers - Much like the 'Nites, it took BDC a few seasons to figure these guys out. But they eventually did. However, in a classic update OPL game I won't forget, they smacked an overconfident BDC right in the mouth to remind BDC no matter how undermatched they were, they better keep an eye on those guys.

For Barossa it was So Cal BDC, Samoa Gangsters, and Sth Queensland Crushers.

Brisbane Heat then Banzai was added once we were all in Pro

Brisbane Gods and Rawle Tech Titans for the first 2-3 seasons, then Banzai joined in the reindeer games a bit later.
