After two BB% pieces. I know it's out of his tree, but...

STRONG BASE: This player has a powerful lower body, and knows how to use it well. The Strong Base skill gives him a bonus to pushing a blocker out of the way. This skill works best when used by players with high strength. Additional Levels: Increases the chance of the skill working, and increases the bonus to pushing the blocker away.

That sounds like it would be very effective for a RS too, better than most other options for a 3rd piece. He's got the Strength.

Thoughts?

Make tackle % is better IMO.

Strong base is not a bad SA but I've never tried taking it to really high levels. I think Rage was doing some experimenting with this on one of his dots so he may have a better answer to this question.

It's good for increasing your reverse pancake numbers, but that's about it.

Think most DT's have high enough revcakes as is

I saw my DT start to push blockers aside (without revcaking them) a bit more when they added Strong Base, but they still didn't make much of an impact and it didn't fire frequently.

I just think make tackle % would be better. Per Bort DL often attempt tackles when they are engaged with a blocker but the tackling score is so low that they miss them. Make tackle pieces may help that.

This is true, but mine is leading his WL conference with 406. Not that it did him any good. http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1304875

Thanks guys. MT% for a third. How about a 4th? MT% x 2? I just don't see too many other pieces that would make a lot of sense.

I'm pretty sure I read a bort quote that said strong base only works on passing plays.

^ I thought about that, but SA descriptions normally mention specifically if it only fires on rush/pass plays.

"The Strong Base skill gives him a bonus to pushing a blocker out of the way."

No mention there. Only "blocker", not "pass blocker".

There's also the fact that Stong Base is in the containment tree for DEs....

Rage's comment above motivated me to take a look at WL rev cake leaders. 3 MPHD d-linemen are in the top 4

Hey rage, since you have a fair bit of WL experience, question for you.

Do you go any agility gear for a strength based DT, or should it be all strength all day long? I was thinking about doing 45 worth of strength and 13 worth of agility, but wondering if that will simply gimp the dot in the longrun.

I like having about 100 agility, so I try to use equipment to get it close to there. I put the rest in strength.

I may put some a couple pts in speed for this one
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1604560 since he will get over 140 strength, and 99 agility without putting any more equipment there, I'm just not sure that 90 speed will be any better than 84 speed.

Not likely to be much better unless you can get him singled up somehow.

Now that we have a rev-cake statline, Bort is unlikely to turn it back up for DTs (I can't imagine what they would have looked like a few seasons back, but I bet Oscar Balbuena would have broken the 1000 mark...lol).

I don't think you will be able to slip 2-3 blockers faster than a DE can slip 1. And that's pretty much the math on DT sacks right now.

You can get them 1 on 1 if you are rushing 4 since both DTs can't be double teamed if you are rushing 4 and teams are blocking with 5. The problem is that with all the QBs having quick release maxed, if you break a block up the middle, QB throws it almost immediately.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1574553&pbp_id=12233606 - would 90 speed help there? Maybe
