Imagine how badly Auburn would have blown out Oregon if Cam Newton hadn't injured his back and ribs in the second quarter?
3 TD's minimum. As it was, the game was much closer than it should have been, but the best team still won.
Congrats to Auburn on winning it all and the SEC for taking 5 STRAIGHT!!!!!

I was rooting for Oregon as i'm a Stanford grad and i have 2 nieces graduate from Oregon. One of the better National Championship games i have watched. I feel Auburn was just as fast but bigger, Oregon was like oh shit we havn't seen this before. Oregon pulled out all the stops and gave it everything they had. Pulled off some neat little plays.

Cam Newton won't be able to pull off what he has been doing in College. Running through CB's and most LB's. No way in the NFL they will level him. He better be able to transition into a great passing QB as most rushing QB's in the NFL fail or get hurt ala Vick (he has to be hurting ya know).

The big thing i noticed was how ineffective the Oregon HB was ( he was a Heisman Candidate). Just not much there as Frailey? shut them down. Now that is a NT.

Anyways good game to watch. I enjoy seeing these guys transition to the NFL where EVERYBODY is big and fast.

Newton won't cut it in the NFL huh? Seems like they said a similar thing about a kid Denver drafted. That kid, IMO (#15) is going to be a star. I'm guessing Newton has the "It Factor"
Whatever the case, was glad Auburn won and it was a good game to watch.

TCU would have beaten both of those teams, the way they played.

In the end, Auburn's defensive line won that game IMHO.

Difference between Tebow and Newton in my opinion is work ethic. I think Tebow's is beyond what most human beings would put in and he seems to be able to read defenses quite well. If he can alter his throwing mechanics some he will make an outstanding NFL QB and Denver will look like geniuses.

Now from my obvious avatar - I'm a Bronco die hard, but unlike many I was NOT rooting to put Tebow in. I thought he lacked the skills to be a good quaterback in the NFL.

If any of you watched he last two games played - you would be taking back everything you said like I was. Yes - the kid is unpolished as far as a pocket passer. Yes - he needs to improve. He's a rookie - he can work on that. What he has is what you can can't teach - drive. leadership, and passion to win. It was more than obvious it was infectious in the Denver locker room the last two games. If he improves his overall QB skills - he could be a dominate force in the NFL.

As far as Cam - I'm not so sure about his leadership skills. QB skills are there though, no doubt.

Lets talk about another Denver QB that everyone thought was good and drafted number 1 by the Baltimore Colts who he refused to play for and had a rocky seasons as a QB. I think John sees in Tebow what he saw in himself.

Anyone who says that Cam won't make it in the NFL is an idiot. He will likely be the first QB taken in the draft. Even by Urban Meyer's admission, the kid is a much better passer than Tebow ever was, with superior running skills. Tebow has more of the intangibles, like leadership and work ethic, but Cam has some of those, himself. I see Cam being a very successful pro.
