Week 12 Predictions

Welcome to Chinese proverb week. Remember, the delicacy of the meal is the learned guest.
NAGA
Game Of The Week
The Cult (11-0) v Palembang Drunken Monks (10-1)
The definitive showdown for first place. I just hope it lives up to the hype so I can really enjoy watching the replays. TC has been held to less than 40 points only once all season and also boasts some impressive scrim performances. The Monks meanwhile have only allowed over 17 points once this season, so something has to give. This one should make both teams better for the playoffs since “The diamond cannot be polished without friction, nor the man perfected without trials.” Naturally I gotta go with my own team, but mainly because they’re my own team. Circular logic anyone? Monks 24, Cult 23
Other Naga Games
Sainte Foy Cyclones (9-2) v Victoria Teabaggers (5-6)
This game should be a lot more entertaining than the record indicates. VT is doing a good job building up their team. “The loftiest towers rise from the ground” and this is no different. SFC is have a golden season and hoping to springboard to the top next season. They have obviously been working on their team for many seasons, which is good because “the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today.” SFC 27, VT 24
Hong Kong Hustlers (9-2) v Portland Dirty Penguins (9-2)
Yet another good game in Naga this week and one that likely decides the 4 seed, maybe even better. For the loser, it’s not so sweet since “the error of one moment becomes the sorrow of a whole life.” For HKH, this is their last game against a top team in the Conference until the playoffs and they’ve weathered that with only 2 losses so far. PDP answered critics whith a nice win over Pudong and proving that the number 3 team in the Royal Family is still dangerous. There was a time when PDP was getting #1 seeds in Naga but they have contributed generously to their system. “The court official in one life has seven rebirths as a beggar.” Maybe not. HKH 42, PDP 40
Pudong Skyfire (8-3) v Chi-Town Hustler (5-6)
Pudong is still eyeing the possibility of a home playoff game with the meat of their schedule behind them while CTH is just hoping to sneak into the big dance. With the difficulty of their remaining schedule, that will be tough. Sometimes just getting into the playoffs gives you a brighter future. “The hardest step is over the threshold.” Pudong is trying to shake off that PDP loss, but they know “the harder you fall, the higher you bounce.” Pudong 52, CTH 17
Pa Dong Dragons (6-5) v Bacolod Skullcrushers (1-10)
Pa Dong is glad to be facing a team that has lost 10 straight after having to play the Cult last game. Both teams have been around SEAPL forever, but they say “the house with an old grandparent harbors a jewel.” We’ll see about that. Pa Dong 65, Bacolod 13
Golden Hill Bones (5-6) v Guam Tigers (1-10)
You know GHB wants to build on the positive things they’ve done this season and cap it with a playoff bid. Guam is still trying to avoid being in a position for relegation. For both goals, “the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” They’ve done that part, time to keep going. GHB 38, Guam 14
Woody Island Wolverines (4-7) v Beer Drinkers, Hell Raisers and Mom (2-9)
How can it be both of these teams are on winning streaks (3 and 2). Even more surprising is WW’s sudden surge back into the periphery of the playoff picture, only one game out. Crazy stuff. Hey, it’s a long season and “the longer the night lasts, the more our dreams will be.” WW 45, Drinkers 13
Cambodia Mountain Men (4-7) v Orlando Praying Mantis (2-9)
CMM is also only one game out of the playoffs, while OPM is still in that dangerous relegation zone. CMM has lost 3 straight in bad fashion so if they want to stay relevant for the season they have to pick up this win. We’ll see which team figures it out for “the man who does not learn is dark, like one walking in the night.” CMM 17, OPM 14

lolgaruda
Game of the Week
Lucid D.R.E.A.M. (9-2) v Buffalo Knights (7-4)
Two old school lolgaruda teams collide. At stake for Lucid is holding onto a top 4 spot and for Buffalo, just making sure they stay out of the 7 or 8 spot, which they would not enjoy I’m sure. Just don’t start thinking about the big prize yet because “the path of duty lies in what is near at hand, but men seek for it in what is remote.” It is really hard to predict what the Knights are going to do tbh as they seem to jump up and bite sometimes and sometimes don’t even show up. Lucid 35, Buffalo 28
Other lolgaruda Games
Three Kingdom Warriors (10-1) v Atlantic Great Whites (4-7)
A week after a heart-breaking loss to Boston, AGW comes up against TKW, the winners of 10 straight and current 600 lb gorilla of lolnaga. TKW is a long-lived team, but they say “the older the ginger, the more it bites.” Too true here. Just remember AGW, if you keep working you may some day learn to conquer such mountains. “The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones.” TKW 56, AGW 16
Buffalo Rampage (10-1) v Quad Cities Quarantine (6-5)
Buffalo, after a satisfying win over Wu, gets another probable lower-tier playoff team in QCQ. They are just outscoring everyone and don’t seem to even acknowledge D. If QCQ can somehow win three or more of their remaining games and make the playoffs, they’ll consider that a good season. Keep plugging away because “the man who wakes up and finds himself famous hasn't been asleep.” Buffalo 65, QCQ 38
Phu Khao Bow Chicka Brown Cows (9-2) v Boston Bears (5-6)
This should be a pretty entertaining game between a sure-fire playoff team and one that has been competitive and still has the chance to sneak into the dance. Just remember Boston you have to keep winning to stay in the picture for “the remedy for dirt is soap and water. The remedy for dying is living.” For the Cows, we just need to see if they will take that next step up to elite status for “the question is not whether you have failed but whether you are content with it.” Cows 34, Bears 20
New York Empire (8-3) v Tibetan Black Dragons (0-11)
NYE is a solid playoff team, no question about it, but will they do anything once they get there? This game won’t answer any questions. I’m sure they don’t want their playoff visit cut short because “a thousand cups of wine do not suffice when true friends meet, but half a sentence is too much when there is no meeting of minds.” NYE 205, TBD 0
Wu Dang Kung Fu Academy (6-5) v Krakow Kryptonite (5-6)
Within the scope of the 8 seed in lolgaruda, this is a huge game. the winner takes the driver’s seat. Despite their losing record, Krakow has been very competitive and I think this game will be a virtual coin-toss. Both teams will stay flexible in the standings for “a young branch takes on all the bends that one gives it.” Krakow 27, Wu 24
Sioux Falls Storm (3-8) v Mandalay King Cobras (1-10)
It has been a tough season for both of these teams, but there is no draft here in SEAPL, so winning is still good for posterity. Just check around with some of the more successful lolgaruda vets because “a single conversation with a wise man is better than ten years of study.” SFS 42, Mandalay 20
Lefkada-Singapore Seahawks (2-9) v New People’s Army (0-11)
LSS has accomplished their first goal of not being relegated. Next up is the goal of improving to a playoff team for next season. Just stick around the league for “an inch of time is an inch of gold, but you can't buy that inch of time with an inch of gold.” LSS 105, NPA 9
