Many people saw that passing isn't nearly as powerful as it used to be and found the rushing game to be a better option and thus most games have returned to something similar to what it was in S12-S14.

Problem is we have not thought this out well. There are several factors most people have not considered.

First is that most good PW teams built their defense to defend against the pass not knowing a nerf was coming. So ya, since passing was nerfed, it's harder to pass against these defenses and easier to run on them. That will start to change over the next couple seasons as teams start to key in on the run more, then passing might open back up some.

Another thing to consider is that when they first boosted passing, no one knew about Pump Fake or the success of the Slant plays, it took a couple seasons for people to find those. Well this is no different. Yes the passing game has changed, and while it seems very nerfed, it will likely open up as people discover different things that work in it as the old things like slants and PF just don't anymore. It takes time for that discovery to happen.

I think you will see a lot of teams go mostly rushing on both the offense and defense in S20 and the passing game will start to open back up, not as much as last season, but more than this season. I think things will balance out, we just have to give it some time.

I pretty much hate everything you have to say...

you don't even watch sims... if you honestly believe this

I PUKE on your post.

40% completion rates with 90% of passes targeting the HB/FB in the primary progression spots...and almost that % being thrown to them....

With teams running less and less double coverage...

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

so wrong.

If ANY offensive player can't catch a ball with 60 catching WIDE the fuck open, how the hell do you think it will get better? I'd love to hear this one. Ive been passing the ball for many seasons and this by far is the 2nd worst.

Only 2nd worse due to the HB coverage bugs and the screen/short pass "drop" fix... lets be honest... if the HB couldn't grab the ball again... we'd be WELL worse off than season 12...

I'm glad HB passes aren't dropped every play anymore... so I agree its not as bad... but the WR/TE passing game is def worse off...

Sorry, Gerr. I'll have to disagree here. This isn't a mutual fund. I didn't pay for this season's flex to have a return on my money in 3 or 4 seasons. Bort totally killed passing and the SIM. Furthermore, he didn't tell us he was doing it until AFTER we all built our dots. I'm sure it'll be the same next season. I don't care how bad it gets and how the best thing to do is go slam crazy, I refuse to do it. It's just boring.

Hey! The dialogue has moved to a whole new post. It's like musical chairs following this debate.

LE, we need a clip for this post too, thanx bro. Gerr vs juice this time.

the current sim wasn't designed for pee wee dudes. we can try and find something that works I spose but in the mean time this grindy grind stuff sucks. what happens when they realize that running backs are catching balls at an alarming rate? there won't be much left unfortunately. and why are we 'giving the sim a chance' half way & countless games/scrims into the season? anybody figured anything viable and replicatable out yet thats not gonna get 'fixed' ? anyone... ? the fixes they make won't be geared toward pee wee anyways lol u

I didn't say it was great, I think they nerfed passing too much, but it's not the pure rushing sim from several season ago like many people claim it to be. I bet passing makes a small rebound next season, but this current sim will still be a run heavy one until the un-nerf passing some, but it's not as bad as it was before the passing bonus.

But when you pound it up the middle against a defense designed to stop the pass, ya, that will work, which is why everyone is doing it this season. When defenses key on the run next season, you wont see the success teams are having with the run this season and more teams will experiment with the passing game more and that's when people will find the passing plays and/or routes that work well in this new type of passing offense.

I find it funny that the most out spoken people against this new sim are the ones who are best known for their passing games, so their main skill took a hit. People like me and Ping, who first learned this game in the slam seasons, are adapting to this current sim better as our teams never went heavy passing to begin with. I have always been a fan of a 60% rushing and 40% passing type offense and this sim does cater to that better than any previous sim. However, I still think passing needs to be un-nerfed a bit to get a good balance, but never back to what it was before. Too many teams just threw it up all the time and played the odds the last couple seasons, where is the skill in that? Some balancing still needs to be done, but this sim, once the kinks are worked out, will be closer to a good balance than any other one, but it will take time for that.

We are all forgetting something, when the DPC is limited, passing may become slightly better as the QB will likely have more time to throw.

Very true.

Plus WR builds are main built for speed this season, and if people remember, there is a penalty for catching a ball when going really fast. I bet slower but very agile WR's with high catching might become the better option next season.

One more problem and I think the biggest one yet is it still in BETA mode. Lets say we do give it a chance. We build dots on day 40. Day 1 of the next season the Sim changes once again for the umpteen time. I think thats what I am most tired of.

Maybe yours are all are speed but mine aren't so saying it's because they are all speed is just bogus.

I do prefer passing but that is not why I think this sim sucks. The biggest reason this sim sucks is the lack of viable options. It is pretty much slam left, slam right, off tackle left, off tackle right, couple dives, and dump it off to the HB. That is just not very exciting. And outside the occasional outside run or crappy LB coverage the chance for big plays is very limited. While I will agree throwing the ball four times down field playing the odds (which is exactly what we did last year) doesn't take much skill. But on the other hand neither does run slams and off tackle so that is pretty much a push. It is just boring to watch. I would much rather see a 35-30 game then a 17-14 game.

i cant be a fan of a sim that rewards unstoppable plays...i know everyone says a good DC should be able to stop a slamfest offense, but look lets be serious, its basically unstoppable...the only way is to hope u can get a false start penalty on the offense, because 3 yards is almost a guarentee...ive slightly adapted my D in the past few seasons due to the pass game, but ive always focused on the run game...i cant get my dots off the field against teams that run 55 times up the gut....im not the best DC here, but I sure as hell am not the worst...the fact that theres no such thing as a DT or DE getting off the ball and beating a OL to a spot where the ball carrier is going despite the fact they most likely have higher agility, speed and possibly vision is absolutley bull crap..a DT w agility 1st capped should be penetrating that 2nd capped strength OL on about half the plays...then theres the plays where the ballcarrier just "hovers" over defensive players getting 5 yards on a play...yes i have beaten teams that play slam fest before, but A its boring, B is cheap as hell, and C when theres no other option, and your team is built to play according to the changes you made last year, its even more impossible
