I was thinking about this.

If a player has 20 speed - they can't run (are really slow).
If a player has 20 agility - they can't make a cut.
If a player has 20 vision - they can't see plays very well.
If a player has 20 strength - they aren't very strong.
If a player has 20 throwing - they can't throw very well.
If a player has 20 kicking - they can't kick worth a darn.

So why are we outraged when a receiver with 20 catching drops a fair number of passes thrown to him?

Who the hell has a receiver with 20 catching?

You may.... we don't... and we still can't get a receiver to not drop a pass.

Another counter to that is:

Because we put so many points in to catching... our guys can't get open (which is the case) but how exactly are we supposed to build our receivers then? You suggest we just make more SPs appear so we can both catch and get open...

But.. like I said... we still get plenty of drops even with high catching.

Also...

HBs are not struggling to catch passes with catching as low as 8, even on the run...

Completely agree ping. People tend to stick with there builds while only training catching(if even that) which for most WR's is usually 2x cap speed. Yeah the guy is fast and can blow by anyone and everyone, but as stated with sub par catching should play as a speed demon with t-rex arms and catches should be few and far between.

Yes lower level players should get the little boost we get to make the games interesting, but it should in no way be compared with game play wise as any of the higher leagues where stats are more in place.

People may tend to... but its not the cause for the horrible passing game.

Bank on it.

I like how it forces you to think about WR builds, and you really can make different sorts of WR's which makes the game more interesting. Do you want a possession receiver who struggles to get open? Do you want a speedster who struggles to catch? And how well do you get your receivers in the right spots and utilize them?

And why should a WR that has 60 speed and 25 agility have good success getting open on an underneath route against a CB that has 55 speed and 40 agility?

Just like a WR with 65 speed should beat a CB with 55 speed on a deep route...but have you sacrificed catching too much to get him that fast?

The biggest problem is with the way the game is set-up with skill points. When you compare a WR to a CB, they're matched up with things like speed, agility, vision, jumping, and strength. With those things even, a WR also needs to put points into catching, but the CB doesn't really have an equivalent; maybe tackling, but that definitely doesn't need 40 points.

If there is an ability to 'catch', you almost need an ability to 'cover'.

Stoner are you reincarnated? I actually do agree with you on many of these points as of late.
I guess the only thing I didn't like was philosophical bullshit and reporting.

I am with you on this passing trend. I am still trying to play balanced but taking some losses. So I up'd my fgs to maybe catch a break in close games.

Anyway when your done with nifs team you can come oc mine for a while and we could really piss some people off. What an odd couple that would make.

Yes, that is why the passing boost was first added... was because here at these low levels the demand for SPs is much higher on a WR than the CB.

Without points into confidence a WR can struggle with morale as well...

Thus why my point has always been that CB coverage is far too great... or the need for catching is far too great... nerf or boost... something needs to change.

Odd and entertaining, but I doubt you want me as an OC right now, I'm struggling getting the ball moving myself this season.

That would be awesome...but I have a feeling you two would murder each other after a week or two, lol.

I can tell you this -- I have WR's built with capped catching first, capped agility first, and capped speed first. They all perform the same as far as the end results go!

Yeah, no reciever in peewee is doing well unless they have an insanely good matchup. Here's the number 1 WR in PW Gold http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=2246429 that's just sad.

Yeah it might just be pretty fun also. When you say, "You doubt that I would want you as an oc right now"
I am actually not a greedy fella. I have been doing both OC and DC since season 11 for the most part by myself along with building 20-35 players + the players for other agents teams I associate with. Along with 100% of the game planning and scouting for both offense and defense. TBH as competitive as we both are and having knowledge of the game/sims good and bad it could be a match made in heaven or hell. Who knows, but I think we would be a team that could find some consistency and would make for some entertaining games. Not to mention shit talking. It would be nice to take PeeWee forums back to season 10-14 when no one got there feelings hurt and we had a blast bickering and poking fun at each other. Also, I could really focus on defense and tagging along with making new plays as I like doing. I have confidence in our defense, just not enough offense to sustain long grind it out drives. Obviously 4 and outs and keeping the defense fresh wins games. So when they do come in they have the ability to be scrappy and energized.

I am just bouncing this around right now. I will spend the next few days cleaning up my AI presets. No one would know what the hell I have because I have them in Morse Code hahaha! Incase we come to some kind of agreement.
I just don't want a GLB coordinator that is a Debbie does Dallas and has to much they can handle or is a social butterfly and involved with too many teams. You talk to Nif to make sure it doesn't cause friction there and I will put some more thought into it. Maybe our 2 different styles could work wonders?>

I'd love to be able to talk trash about teams, just try to keep ME and mine out of it.

It would be a fun little experiment for sure, and since your not even in my league I know Nif won't have a problem with it... heck he wouldn't care if I coached every team in Gold tbh.

Maybe you'd care to share a slight insight into your players build?
