<>1. Eleven Wise Monkeys 5-0-0
Last week: 1 High: 1 Low: 1
A less than stellar victory over the New York Warriors has the Monkeys spending their third week in a row sat on top of my rankings and can now lay claim to being the only unbeaten side left in the East. With two of the big three played and beaten the Monkeys can now feel confident of reaching the offseason, although they must not lose focus.
^2. Louisville Nighthawks 4-1-0
Last week: 3 High: 2 Low: 6
After a 79 point blowout of the Retros I had had no choice but to move them up to #2 this week. An impressive Rushing and Passing attack shows they have a balance offense and their OL dominated with a total of 117 pancakes, no hurries allowed, and a total of 23 tackles missed by the Richmond defence. I don’t think we will truly know who is truly worth of #2 until the Nighthawks face the Warriors in week 10.
v3. New York Warriors 4-1-0
Last week: 2 High: 2 Low: 3
5 INTs, 2 sacks and 3 hurries allowed doesn’t bode well for New York’s offence, who also only averaged 1.8 Yards/Rush on 28 carries. Their D-Line didn’t find things much easier as they were pancaked a total of 31 times although their secondary fared better recording 2 INTs and 18 PDs. Improvements must be made before the offseason if any they hold any hope to promotion.
<>4. Boston Massacre 4-1-0
Last week: 4 High: 4 Low: 5
Boston continue their good form and win their 4th game in a row, surviving a late scare from Syracuse they consolidate their place in my rankings. They face a testing tie next week at home to the Nighthawks who are coming off the back off a very dominant victory, and will do well to walk away unscathed.
<>5. New York Hope 3-2-0
Last week: 5 High: 5 Low: 9
Another victory over a good side has the second of my New York sides solidifying their place in the top 5 of my rankings. A couple of games ago I said they would do well to come out of their upcoming fixtures with a winning record, and a victory of the Jailbreakers next week will them 3-0-0 in said matchups. After next week they have four “easy” games, before a home tie to the Monkeys which Hope should be looking to get a victory in.
<>6. Bristol Bullets 4-1-0
Last week: 6 High: 2 Low: 6
A 4th win in 5 couldn’t help the Bullets move out of their position in my rankings as they have yet to record a victory over any sides above them. I can’t knock them for how they have done so far, but realistically with games against the Monkeys, NY Warriors, Nighthawks, and Massacre still to come life from here is going to get difficult.
^7. Dallas Rampage 3-2-0
Last week: 8 High: 7 Low: 8
A powerful rushing display against Miami has the Rampage moving up a place this week, the victory could have been much greater had their secondary turned 15 PDs into another INT. Their WR’s should also work on agility and vision as they only accumulated 3.9 YAC between them.
v8. Alcatraz Island Jailbreakers 4-1-0
Last week: 7 High: 4 Low: 8
A very close game against the ever improving TCC see’s the Jailbreakers fall a place in my rankings, a strange statistical game, as they only had 6 passing attempts for 8 yards and 2 INTs. Their rushing game was much more impressive though clocking 336 yards at 4.7 Yards/Rush and over 20 tackles broken. They don’t seem to have much faith in their passing game which would be fatal against stronger opposition who can just plug the run with superior defences.
<>9. Cleveland Firebirds 2-3-0
Last week: 9 High: 7 Low: 9
A respectable performance for their QB who played behind an OL with only 1 pancake between them. I think their lack of rushing will hurt them all season and will need to be improved drastically if they are to go into next season with any optimism. After losing to the Jailbreakers in week 2 and a shoutout loss to TCC in week 4 the only direction I can see the Firebirds going is south.
<>10. Miami Sharks 2-3-0
Last week: 10 High: 10 Low: 10
Another defeat for the newcomers to BBB #1, and life doesn’t seem to be getting easy for Miami. They appear to have a decent QB and poor running game similar to the Chicago Bears, and like the Bears this does not translate into stats in the W column. On current performances I can’t see the Sharks reaching the post-season barring a miracle or the real (Vikings) Adrian Peterson signing for them.
<>11. Syracuse Souls 2-3-0
Last week: 11 High: 11 Low: 12
A decent performance by Syracuse, and especially by their backup QB who recorded a 105.2 QB rating. Maybe it was Boston sent out their backups although by the looks of the stats it would seem Boston played their starters throughout. If they can crack their running game they should be on the cusp of the playoffs and can look to next year with hope.
^12. TCC's Wax-Bustin Warriors 1-4-0
Last week: 13 High: 12 Low: 15
A close loss to the Jailbreakers continues TCC’s improving results, however a total of 151 yards offensively isn’t enough to challenge higher ranked sides. They have a couple of upcoming games which they should be hoping to record a couple of victories. But they have too many cracks to make a real impression on any playoff teams.
^13. Hartford Musician 1-4-0
Last week: 16 High: 13 Low: 16
The Musicians have shown a lot of improvements since week 4 when they were rooted to the bottom of my rankings, and recorded their first victory of the season this week. They had an impressive passing display recording 340 yards, however as with the Sharks their running game simply isn’t up to standard and has to be seen to if they are to progress further.
v14. Baltimore Knights 1-4-0
Last week: 12 High: 11 Low: 14
The Knights move down this week after a 4th defeat of the season against the previously winless Musicians. And like several other teams in the East, this can mainly be attributed to their lack of running game and lack of commitment to the run.
v15. Colonial Zoners 0-5-0
Last week: 14 High: 14 Low: 15
The Zoners had a fairly decent display against the Bullets this previous week and had some good QB play. But their defence didn’t put up much of a fight; no-one stepped up and made a big play which helped spurned their side on. I would be worried that so far the Zoners haven’t been able to record double digit points so far.
v16. Richmond Retros 0-5-0
Last week: 15 High: 13 Low: 16
New basement side this week replacing the Musicians, after a resounding defeat to the Nighthawks. And although the Nighthawks are a strong team, the #15 ranked Zoners only gave up 17 points. There seems to be two major issue with this team and they are their OL and DL, who couldn’t get close to the opposition QB or keep defenders off their own, this issue must be dealt with before anything else.
