1 Guadalcanal Gunners 8-0-0
So far they look like they are the team to beat and have not missed a step all season. They have had some close calls though and I don't think they will finish 16-0. They play some tough teams yet that would also like a shot at the #1 seed in playoffs. Next opponent is Sumatra Sea Hawks who have a shot at giving them their first loss if they bring their A game. Gunners are the #1 passing offense led by QB Dauntless Marine. Until they get a loss, they deserve the #1 spot.

2 Eastern European Alliance 7-1-0
They have been one of the top OPL teams for a while and continue to do so. Their pass defense has been exposed a bit this season and could be a issue against top teams but even if teams can pass on them they have all the tools to overcome it and it all starts with their HB Chicken George Moore. They play Tonga Titans next which is a team that can hang with anyone in OPL when they are clicking on all cylinders. Currently sitting 2nd and I will leave them there do to the 1 point win over SS

3 Syracuse Synergy 6-2-0
They have been a top OPL team consistently and I don't see that changing any time soon. They are led by the amazing HB Walter Payton™ who controls the clock with a dominating run game. They have two loss this season but only by a combined 3 points which is very impressive. If you want to beat this team you better pack a lunch. They play Addict Nation next and unless Addict Nation gets on track Syracuse Synergy will likely get their 7th win of the season week 9.

4 Razorback Nation 6-2-0
I have to admit that I did not expect Razorback to be sitting in a top 4 spot at the seasons halfway point. They have to be the most improved team in OPL zeta. The most impressive thing about where they sit after 8 games is the fact that they have the toughest part of their schedule completed. They could easily go into cruise control from here to playoffs. They are led by CB Razorback Shutdown who is a big part of their pass defense that is dominating teams this season. They play Sth Queensland Crushers next and will likely be a easy win. My gut feeling says they should be higher but that loss to Tonga really hurts them. I need too see more games before I am convinced they belong higher.

5 Sumatra Sea Hawks 6-2-0
They are a very good team that are capable of beating anyone. They have been a bit inconsistent so it is hard to say what you will get from them. The teams strength is pass defense led by FS DH JoKa . They play the undefeated Guadalcanal Gunners next and have a chance against them but they will need to give it their best shot to pull this one out. They are what I consider the best of the rest. We clearly have 4 top teams right now and then Sumatra Sea Hawks lead the second pack of playoff teams and will likely hold the 5th seed come playoffs.

6 Gold Coast Vipers 5-3-0
They are currently ranked 6th with a 5-3 record led by their fierce DE Ernie Cyclone but I have a feeling over the brutal schedule they have coming up they will fall down the list to somewhere in the 5th to 9th range by seasons end unless they hit their stride. The next game vs Asau Pirates will be a big sign of what is to come for them. They are currently the leader of the middle ground teams fighting for the playoffs. They have the upper hand with more wins but there are some teams that could drop them down to a lower playoff seed. I think they will make playoffs though.

7 Addict Nation 5-3-0 aka whores
I honestly expected them to be a top 4 team once again this season but they really have not played well. They have not looked good against any of the top teams they have played so far and if they don't hit their stride soon they will be a early exit come playoffs. They are led by WR Lois Lane who has been a consistent play maker for QB Lee. They will likely get another loss to a top team in their next game vs Syracuse Synergy. They will hang around in the 6th-8th playoff seed range and likely be a 1 and done unless they get their stuff straight.

8 Manhattan Goal Line Mafia 4-3-1
MGLM has hit a wall up in pro and have not been able to hang with the top OPL teams and continue to watch OPL playoffs from the comfort of their couch's. They are led by WR Middawg Snatches who has been a consistent play maker on offense. MGLM are showing improvement and will likely win their 4th straight game this week against. San Antonio Heat who has struggled in their first pro season. That week 1 tie is going to haunt MGLM. They are among the middle ground teams fighting for a playoff spot but I fear that 1 tie might be the difference. They would have to pull off some big wins down the stretch to avoid getting knocked out of the 8th seed.

9 Sth Queensland Crushers 4-4-0
A solid team with a history of winning but just like every other newcomer to OPL, they got a reality check right to the groin. A gift that keeps on giving. They will continue to improve and win enough games to stay in OPL. Another future team that will rise to the top of OPL Next up is Razorback Nation and likely a loss. They have a very tough schedule left and are still capable but very unlikely to make playoffs.

10 Tonga Titans 4-4-0
Tonga is one of the hardest teams to predict in OPL. They are very inconsistent. When they are clicking they can beat anyone but also they can also be beat by teams that you would expect them to destroy. They are very capable of beating EEA but they will have to go all out to do so. Sitting in the 10th spot as of now but the remaining schedule is in their favor for making a late season push. If they continue their ways of getting beat by teams they should beat though they could be odd man out.

11 Asau Pirates 3-5-0
I don't care what anyone says, they are far better then a 1th ranked team and despite the record are still very alive in the playoff chase. The next three games will decide their fate starting with Gold Coast Vipers. If they can get on track here they could make a late season playoff push. If not they will be ready next season to make their mark on OPL Everyone in OPL knows it is just a matter of time until it happens. Will it be this season is yet to be seen though

12 Berlin Kreuzberg Red Stars 3-5-0
led by QB Giovanni Persol the highlight of the season was a huge win over Tonga that still has everyone in OPL zeta scratching their heads. They continue to be good enough to stay in OPL but have not been able to get rolling yet. Pro is definitely a learning curve as to what works and what it takes to compete. Playoffs are very unlikely.

13 San Antonio Heat 1-7-0
Much like many first year pro teams they have hit a wall and are in a major learning curve and need to play well against clovis and IC if they want to avoid being sent back down to AAA. . Long Yard Crewe has been their most notable player so far. Yet to be seen if they will be in OPL S19

14 IC Incinerators 1-7-0
A well known team with a history of winning that is fighting to stay in OPL so they can give it another shot. They have a huge game against Clovis West Golden Eagles to try to avoid a trip back to AAA.

15 Clovis West Golden Eagles 0-8-0
Among the teams fighting to stay in OPL they have a huge game vs IC Incinerators to try to avoid being sent back to AAA

16 Rekohu Raptors 0-8-0
Long time veterans of OPL zeta and have been able to avoid being dropped down to AAA so far but it looks like their time in OPL might be over. They have already lost to 2 of the other 3 bottom teams in zeta and are likely to finish 0-16 or at best 1-15.

Ya, Berlin has been in OPL Longer than EEA, and was always one of the top teams in Zeta. They have just struggled the past couple season.

But, great right up Jack! We appreciate the love at EEA!

Oops, I had looked back and seen they had been here just was thinking of the wrong team I guess.

I figured since I always ask bug to do his write ups I should occasionally help too. I like active forums and reading stuff like this.

This will be only the 2nd time IC has missed the OPL playoffs in it's 7 seasons in the pros (season 6 was kind of a throw away season though when I sold the team before getting it back half way through S14 or 15).
While my new job is good for the wallet, it sucks for IC having little to no GPing time..

Update, it isn't just a 4 way race on top of OPL zeta, sea hawks made it a 5 way race for top teams and then there is a drop off to a bunch of teams that will be fighting for the bottom 3 playoff seeds. This will be interesting down the stretch

Woohoo, I think IC may have avoided the trip back to AAA (where we could have dominated, but would rather be "home" in OPL).

Thanks for the write ups. Lets blame Tonga's inconsistencies on their Damn OC!!!! (me)

Razorback Nation should be at least #2 after beating EEA and Syracuse. Their loss to Tonga shouldn't hold them back. Tonga is a good team just inconsistent and everyone can have a bad sim now and then.

I agree

Although it doesn't really matter because you can orient 2-4 in whatever way you want tbh

What do you think?

My thoughts on 2-4 are they are fairly interchangeable. We still have doubt from the masses due to being inconsistent. Winning cures that, and we need to keep winning to make our case. I think we have a very tough date tomorrow, that if we don't do our work on could bite us in the ass. The loss to Tonga, was an ai glitch, but here is another way of looking at it. We should have been ahead in the game and it should not have come down to that ai situation. Also you cannot count out Sumatra in that equation either.
