The rules for this year's tournament will be slightly different from the past.
The season 17 tournament will be open to all World League and Pro League teams.
This will be a 64-team tournament with two stages. The Group stage will be round-robin play with the top two teams from each of 16 groups advancing to the Knock-out stage. Groups will be determined on day 0. Groups will be determined using last season's Matrix Rankings (http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=4204724). The top 64 teams entered will make the field.
**Groups may be altered to prevent teams from within the same region/conference from playing in the Group stage**
Each win is worth 3 points. Each tie is worth 1 point.
Tie-breakers in the Group stage will be total points in group play, point differential in group play, points allowed in group play (in that order).
Group winners will go into the bracket seeded 1-16 and the second place finishers will be seeded 17-32. Teams will be seeded based on point differential, but there will be adjustments made to attempt to even out the bracket. The bracket is single elimination with a 3rd/4th place game.
Prizes
Prize Pool: 60% of all Addict Funds Raised
1st place - 40% of Prize Pool + GOLD Trophy
2nd place - 25% of Prize Pool + SILVER Trophy
3rd place - 15% of Prize Pool + BRONZE Trophy
4th place - 10% of Prize Pool
Pro team beats WL Team at any stage = 100 flex
Lowest seed to make final 16 teams = 500 flex
Last remaining pro team = 500 flex + special trophy (if more than one team makes it to the same stage the flex prize will be split and the special trophy will be given to the team that loses by the smallest margin)
