So... I had a Speed rusher DE and a Strength rusher DE for peewee...

The Strength one destroyed the speed one.

Is it like that for their entire careers or does the speed one win out?

I'm actually trying to find some high level ste D.E.s but they are hard to find. Plus, everyone wants to build crappy d.e's

+ His stats last season.

42 tackles, 3 missed... 44 hurries, 12 sacks, 1 TFL, 1 PD

I figured the HUGE amount of hurries, not sacks, was due to his tackling being low. So I upped that near the end of the season.

Eventually my Strength DE will be an unstoppable force. Good thing I started making one before they became popular. Got a head start on everyone jumping the Strength DE wagon.

Yep it's a wagon that I saw was taking off and said to myself, oh hey, let's jump on that. It was definitely because I seek out popular things to, you know, jump on. It had nothing to do with making two players and sticking with the effective one.

Well it's not even that. people don't know how to build good agility ends either.

The best agility build I have seen was a 110 agility, 100 speed and 80 strength. Most people put to much in speed and hardly any agility.

You didn't take STR high enough.
STR DE needs to take STR to AT LEAST 77 by level 14 without EQ.
You won't get as much done once OT's, and OG's catch up and pass you.

My First STR DE I took STR to 68 ASAP and he did pretty good until he hit cap 22, but on my second STR DE I took STR to 77 and I'm taking him all the way to the top, he plays great and gets lots of penetration... On my 3rd STR DE I took STR to 81, and I'm watching him develop right now.

Pretty sure that's a balanced build, not an agility build per se.

Also, here is a guy with 117 agility, 105 speed and 85 strength
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1309397

Not terribly effective at the moment, but that is in part because he doesn't get a lot of snaps (he plays a fair amount of special teams) and becuase my defensive AI is set up to emphasize the skills of my starter and doesn't work as well for this guy.

It is generally a better idea to pursue a build that you think will do well rather than jump on the flavor of the week.

I have tested variety of builds and heard many "rumors" about this is best for this season, that is best for that season, but season in and season out the most consistent productive builds (especially in AAA and Pro levels) are balanced builds.

Traditionally I'm messing with 110-120 agi, 95-115 spd, and 80-90 str. Now I'm trying a new route: 115-125 agi, 85-95 spd, and 95-105 str. I'm guessing this will be much better as I don't think the rate of benefit return for spd beyond 85-90 is that good.

Going into making the Strength DE I knew he wouldn't be a sack master so I was fine with it. Figured if he was used correctly he would take on both blockers being the RT and TE which would free up the LOLB to make a play untouched. It just happens that Strength got a big boost so now he just reverse pancakes those guys quickly to make a play on inside runs while hardly ever getting pushed back if he doesn't reverse pancake. I notice he rarely gets pancaked and he probably got pancaked half a dozen times all last season while being underleveled against top teams in A.

I think what you choose with your EQ and VA's has a huge impact on how Speed DE's do. Aviril has been far better all his career stat wise but Williams is now catching him. if you look at there awards it's not even close besides the Championships. There not even really good DE builds but there is still a spot for SPEED/AGILITY DE's in this game for sure. They can have huge impacts on games with sacks and FF's. Usually they will only get 1 or 2 sacks at best in the close games but really that's all you can ask for. On the other hand in the running game they are useless even at 70 strength (equipped) they get pancaked all day by good OT's. That's where your coaching and scouting comes in so you can move them around when your facing rushing teams.
