I had this problem with my last (now retired) fake based WR. He struggled with it his entire career. It seems that even though the build is ineffective and not viable according to so many, mine keep producing lots of yards and TD's.

I mean, even as the 4th WR they just lead their teams in yards and TD's. Even as the OC I can't keep this guy's awesome production down:

Someone help me build a less effective and more conventional WR. I'm tired of all this production! How can a guy put those numbers up while being out leveled by 5-10 and playing a half dozen SSB teams 100 days older? How can I fix this?

well the source of your problem is you played in AA, if you fixed that you might have had more of a challenge.

You want his L50 player to play in Pro? He's playing like leveled or higher peeps in AA tbh. Bad reply...

I'm flattered by his suggestion. It's probably the only way to stop the madness!

Yeah, this has always been the problem.

I add fakes to the build for their value on routes, not after the catch.

I really don't have much interest in defending it. My last WR was just labeled 'X-factor'... so we can just do that too.

Question is...why does he have anything in fake ability SA's this early anyway?

Well I tried making my WR a fake based route runner as well, and it just didn't work at the pro/WL level. I watched some of your passes from the AToIaF game and they're all just streaks that you make catches on and run. That's fine and good, but creative route running doesn't help with that.

When your WR gets older and gets to the pro/wl level, you'll just stutter in your route for a second, hardly ever fake out a good CB, and the only thing you accomplish is delaying your route. You just become a slow speedster.

Before you ask, my WR had 12 juke and double stacking fake % AEQ's, QF, and clever instincts. And even in WEPL she was only mediocre. The next season I just dropped it and went straight speedster and she finished with the most yards in the league.

maybe, MAYBE with the right OC a fake WR is viable but I haven't seen it, and I wanted to with mine. The only worthwhile reason to stack fake % items for a WR right now is for catch fake, but they'd be better off with stacking catch % really.

Why not? His effective level is not harmed by my minor SA investment.

Plus, when you invest in SA's as heavily as I like to for WR's, I can't wait until lvl 60.

This is what I'm saying. My builds are totally broken!

Close, but I fudged up my AEQ really bad when the new system came out. I did some stupid stuff and cost myself a lot of BT's I really didn't need to so I don't have 3 upgraded pieces yet.

being a good WR just means beating good CBs and having an OC that plays to your strengths.

Most CBs have high vision and +avoid fake once they hit pro so a lot of high fake WRs become less productive, but I'm sure you could plan around that.

do you use creative route running? I've read a lot of comments that don't recommend it, but it seems it'd be quite useful vs fakes.

Most CB's do have high vision and avoid fake at that level. This is kinda a misunderstanding that is at least partially MY fault for poor wording.

I don't devote my entire build to the almighty power of the fake. I do not take vision to 75 or carrying over 70. Nothing weird like that. I don't split EQ with agility. That may MODERATELY help fakes, but yanno what it doesn't do? Make a good WR. I fortify my build with fakes combined with fake based EQ and VA's.

Fakes are kinda useless if the WR isn't good to begin with right? I"m sure you'd agree.

I'm not worried about hitting any kind of wall with the player at the pro level. I have a precedent that makes me comfortable.

As for creative... no. I don't use it. I did back in season 8. Prior to the infamous elusive back nerf it had value with the right build, but it's been worthless since that happened. You can tell the exact time the nerf happened by looking at Hardy Ketchum's season 10 game log. Look at his yards after catch average.

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player_game_log.pl?player_id=793424&season=10&stat_type=raw

See that sudden sharp decline? Yeah. Mid-season nerfs have no sat well with me ever since.
