As an early favorite for the Offensive MVP, THL and the Owners, and GM's of 8 Mile boasted of his prowess.

When the chips finally fell for this season, the answer is clear. He isn't the Offensive MVP. He isn't even the HB MVP. No, he is much farther down the line, maybe at best getting 4th place (Discounting Borts' MVP rankings).

Here are my real MVP picks:

1. Baroness Anastasia DeCobray http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1261659 : Clearly the MVP for this league. Most often the MVP is a RB, but she blew everyone else out of the water. It helps to have one of the best teams in the league, with some of the best receivers, but even with that, her numbers are WAY above average. A 135.1 QB rating says it all.

2. M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN : http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1292955: Receivers never get any love, but this guy should get at least a cuddle. In real life, you get props for being a Great Player on a Great Team. The formula is different here on GLB, but has some flaws. From my perspective, being a Great Player on a mediocre team carries a ton of weight. Particularly at the WR position.

3. TerShaun McDaniel : http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1058756: I am conflicted on this placing. He could have been #2 or even #1. His biggest problem was the team he was playing for. The lack of high level players blocking for him, no doubt kept his numbers lower than they could have been. Put him on any of the top 8 teams in the league, and he would be a run away favorite. Mark my words, this guy is one of the best you will see in season 18.

4. Alex LOLston : http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1041254: Alex(or IT) as I like to call errr.... It. Put up some very impressive numbers this season. For me the Yards Per Carry is much more telling for a RB than the number of TD's. You can inflate your TD's by giving carries in the red zone. Of course being the best RB on one of the Best teams hurts It's cause slightly, as the elevated play of everyone else in her team gives It a competitive advantage.

5. M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN : http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=1128505: Again, being the best back on the best team in the league, doesn't make you the best back int he league. It certainly gives you a leg up though, as your going to get better blocking out of your team than most teams get. Still your a great back, and despite all the inherent advantages made a ton of plays all on your own.

5. Tyler Hugh Lewis : http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=958266: THL was a good solid back this season, and better than most. He didn't quite do as well as last season though. He is Plateaued so he gets 2 more seasons, but I think he might be dropping down from "Elite" to just "Good".

Anyhow, that is how I see the real Offensive MVP race.

True, there was no FB love. QB, HB, and WR love was all I could manage.

I really feel like John Dogmeat quietly had a superb season on a team that isn't one of the top-tier teams and had a better passing offense than running offense. He didn't get a ton of touches, but he made the most of the ones he got, averaging 10.7 yards per carry (and 12.4 yards per completion). Better than 1 in every 5 carries was a TD (and he also had 4 more TD's from 17 receptions) and, no, he didn't get any special treatment near the goal line - most of his TD's were just him beating the whole defense and getting a long gainer.

You might also note from his game log that he didn't get a bunch of carries against much weaker teams.

You're very high on TerShaun McDaniel but he:
1) had a SEASON HIGH 39 carries for 1066.5 yards against the hapless Ice Weasels
2) 31 carries against the Battalion and 28 carries against Richmond (more than his typical carries against good teams)
3) was lucky to play Mentone Beach game 1 where he had 35 carries for 459 yards

If you adjust for these games I don't think McDaniel can make the list if John Dogmeat is not there!

Dogmeat is an a really really good back. The problem is that this is an MVP nomination. The simple fact that you gave him only 96 carries, removes him from that competition.

If you were doing, bang for your buck HB's, he would be right up there.

Well Dogmeat does an amazing job of helping his team to beat teams that they otherwise wouldn't beat.

As compared to backs that get most of their stats beating up on weak teams their team would have beaten easily with any game plan.

John Dogmeat vs. TerShaun McDaniel head-to-head

TerShaun McDaniel 27 Rush, 180.5yds (6.7 ypc); 2 TD
John Dogmeat 9 Rush, 99.5 yards (11.1 ypc); 3 TD

Dogmeat's team wins 62-38

John Dogmeat vs. Tyler Hugh Lewis head-to-head

Tyler Hugh Lewis 28 Rush, 84 yards (3.0 ypc); 0 Rec, 0 Yards: 0 TD
John Dogmeat 9 Rush, 93.5yds (10.4 ypc); 1 Rec, 14yds; 3 TD

Dogmeat's team wins 51-27

If the definition of "valuable" is "helping his team to be better and win games" then Dogmeat belongs near the top of your list.

If the definition of "valuable" is "not helping his team to be better and win games but instead just racking up lots of production to the point that their teams actually lose games they could otherwise have won with a more balanced gameplan and racking up most of their big stats against easy and gutted teams" then your list makes sense.

You forgot head to head vs Meth

M.E.T.H.O.D. MAN 6 rushes, 71 yards, 11.8 avg, 1 td
John Dogmeat 8 rushes, 17.5 yards, 2.2 avg

fwiw, Meth had the fewest carries of any of those guys, but made up for it by averaging 13 ypc. That said, I wouldn't even list him as the mvp back on his own team, that would go to one of these guys.

Since we had 2 elusive HBs splitting duty, and both got 2000+ yards (one of them coming in 150 or so yards behind the rushing leader, but using blow-out adjusted, he was tops)......... using your logic, they should both be in your top 5.

or you could look at Baroness' entire game against the Growl (perfect QB rating fyi). Our KKAR game was early in the season and we were still messing with EQ and settings. Still had a higher y/a than your dot. I promise you if you guys make it to the 2nd round, it will be a different story. GL
