The Jersey Dragons (1-1) celebrated last night after getting the win over the Shanghai Smoke (1-1) at Shanghai's Smog Stadium.

After the tough loss against the Céret Zanpakut the team needed the win to get back on track for the rest of the season and this morale booster will surely get the players' confidence back on track again.

The game started a bit tentatively from both teams with the defense dominating on both sides, and it wasn't until 11 minutes into the game that the Jersey Dragons could punch a hole in the Smoke defense for the go-ahead score with a pass from QB Go Real Long to Bob Slisz for a 3 yard pass reception for the score.
On the drive, the Dragons converted four third downs.

BOth teams started fighting for field position after that score, and it was the Smoke who finally got in a scoring position five minutes into the second quarter when they found themselves inside the Dragons' 10 yard line on third and 4. A sack by DE no time stopped the drive and the Smoke had to settle for a FG to reduce the Dragons' lead by three.

This only seemed to spure the Dragons on, however, and on the ensuing drive they came right back with another TD drive set up by a 33 yard kick off return by Jack Rumble to set the Dragons up at the Smoke 48. The drive consisted of some power running by HB Shimmy Shake folloed by a deep pass for 21 yards to WR Bob Slisz to set up a TD run by HB Laca Soti to give the Dragons what turned out to be a lead the Smoke could not get back from.

IN the second half, it did look as if the Shanghai Smoke would mount a comeback, pulling to within a single point through a FG by K Laurencio Taines and a spectacular 74 yard catch and run by Lionel Moore where Dragons CB Tro Tomee got turned inside out before Moore raced down the sideline for the score.

The Dragons didn't seem to let this faze them at all, though, and once again they responded on the following drive by a TD passs from QB Go Real Long to Bob Slisz with 9:33 left in the game.
To seasl the victory, they drove down the field, chewing up the clock and adding a FG with only 4 minutes left of the game to finish the scoring off for the day and set the end result to 24-13 in favor of the Dragons.

Head Coach Bill Horn said after the game:

'We played a good game today. It was good to see the guys step up after that tough loss last week to make a statement against Shanghai today."

'Now, we will have to take this and keep the momentum going into the game against Chump Town next week. We're only a game behind the leaders in the conference, so if we can build on this victory and keep improving the tam, we definitely have a good chance to get to a playoff position.'
