I want to propose a league wide pact. If a player leaves a team in this league, they cannot sign with another team in the league. Given the competitiveness of this league and the gameplanning work that we all do. Having players switch teams within the division creates an unfair advantage. Can we get a consensus on this?

Just curious but how exactly does it create an unfair advantage as far as gameplans are concerned?
If you switch things up game to game that players wouldn't have any reliable information past the next game. If your gameplan stays relatively the same then the only information he'd have is information that could be found from doing even a small amount of scouting.
Other than the obvious fact that one team is losing a player and another is gaining a player I don't see what advantage could be gained.

That's the question for debate, is there an advantage when a player leaves one team for another in the same league?

I would be curious to hear people's opinion on this. I am on the fence with this topic and don't know which way to go yet. I would like to hear from some of the regular posters here to see what they say.

Well potentially you can have someone take screen shots of all your player builds (assuming you have stats open to teammates) and then he can share the entire team's build to the new team. Or it could just be 1 or 2 builds...doesn't have to be whole team, it would still be a competitive advantage if you saw a couple of player's builds you weren't supposed to be able to see fairly.
That's one way you could get an advantage.

Thats a fair advantage if you ask me.
I remember the the 2002 Superbowl... lol Raiders vs the Bucs and Gruden knew everything about how to beat his old team.
Just stay on good terms with your players IMO.
If the league decides not to do this I will follow it, but it really wouldn't bother me signing another teams player or them signing one of mine.

My feeling is NO it is not fair. Not only because of the build stats as mentioned by hookem which is a very good point, but also because that player knows your game plannings. They know how your building your team they know what your inside strengths and weakness are. It's the information that can be used against your team. I don't think it should be done. You want to switch teams look outside the league.

Jesus Christ it's only a freaking game , if someone takes the time to do all that then they deserve whatever comes from it. Bottom line they ain't winning nothing , zip , zero , nada but some internet bragging rights and a clip art trophy.
It just isn't that serious people , so I guess my answer is......it's fair or to be blunt I could care less.
The REAL QUESTION is "IF IT WAS OFFERED , WOULD YOU USE IT" ? and for me THAT answer is no.

Technically, my example would be Gruden taking all the Oakland player files with him to TB, which is illegal.
And for the record, I would be for this. Although I think we're opening ourselves up to a whole bucket of worms.
To play devil's advocate...half the time when signing FAs, I don't check their previous team. I just check their build and PM some generic questions about PT, etc. So what if a team signs one accidentally? Or what if the player was here 2 season's ago? Is it ok now?
We can't just pass a rule w/o setting more guidelines. There are probably a bunch of other scenarios that would be "gray", that would need clarity...but those are a few that just popped into my mind.

I think that sums it up the best. It's on the owners to use it or not. We can't really police it.

See to me everyone asking these type questions has some reservations about ethics , there is no gray area. There are only two points here........
1) It's offered/asked for and you use it.
2) it's offered and you don't.

I really don't see how a competitive advantage is gained. Like I pointed out game plans are either constantly changed so the player wouldn't have anything of use after leaving or always stays the same so it's simple enough to scout. The only other thing is photoshopped pictures of builds but really how likely is that? Are there really people sitting around with photos of their teammates builds just in case they happen to go to another team? And even if there were, how long would they be useful? 2, 3, maybe 4 levels before the player levels up enough to be totally different.
I guess basically I don't see a problem with someone signing a FA that used to play in this league but at the very unlikely chance that he had inside information that I could use I certainly wouldn't use it and probably wouldn't sign him in the first place.

i promised i would not say anything so i am biting my tongue here... i could point out many many examples, but wen the person metioned actually SET those tactics and made many many friends except for 1 who i will refuse to mention (because he talks about himself enough on these pages) and is released by team, and before signing gives his word that he would never use any info he has against his old team AND that the team that signed him beat his old team without the help from the former player, and this newly signed player justs wants to play to the coaches set tactics... and be a player... nothing more... and this is also a person who took money out of their own pocket to help a former teammate build his player (he was that type of gm) and put his heart and soul into said team only to be attacked by some (again name withheld) clownshoe everytime he made a comment, and wen released still told the owner how much he cared about them and their team.... and wen you only hear the owner, the qb(i'll just say qb, because i dont want things personal) and the unnamed clowshoe will be sure to have their backs... but other than that, this players defense i am positive will say no ill words towards him as they all know he is a standup caring person
but i would just like clay and bebsa to know that ive said what ive had to say to both of you, i have respect for clay still, and have many friends on this team, i offered my friendship and assured that i would not disclose anything i may know about their team and it was not good enough. i am a straight up guy and if i felt what i was doing was wrong, i would not have done it. i dont understand when this team KNOWS that you would not give information on them.... what the problem is...? i love this league and how its run, i have many friends here.... and if im leaving this league its not gonna be by signing a contract, i wanna earn it... that being said... i told myself and my coach i would do my best to not respond, but being the player in mention, i will not give examples or reasons (i will leave that up to the smart people)... but knowing that my new team handled your team before i even joined it and knowing that i would never cross the line and give team information away... what are you angry about?? is it anger or jealously that another gained a player that could help them?? i have fed into this drama way too much already and i dont plan on addressing it anymore after this post.... so for about the 5th or 6th time i wish the cajuns nothing but the best of luck this year and other than that there is nothing i can say to make anything better, and there is no point for me to feed into everything and make this worse. so im sorry if you feel the way you do, if anything i would think you would have any advantage but then again, after what happened and the ensuing drama caused by my release from your team, i have ZERO interest in coordinating ever again. i am only a player... and im sorry but you have made a mountain out of a mole hill
im gonna leave it there and thats it because there are so many things i would love to say but i'll take the higher rd here. hopefully this thread ends here before smart people start bringing out all types examples of how this happens every single year in the NFL!! let alone the glb. if you guys keep this going you are just going to look bitter and hopefully youll realize that b4 anymore post are made... good luck this year, maverick price is a lumberjack now and its that simple... let it go and stop the drama.
