Would a storng base piece of equipment work on a Middle linebacker?to go with shed block skill as well?

no, just pass on it. It'll work but there are a lot of BETTER pieces to be had, and if oyu've already got a shed blocks piece that doesn't leave you much room for anything else.
An MLB without a shadow of a doubt should have a make tackle % piece and a D General piece.
If you want to go shed blocks after that, that's fine, might help you get off the run blocks in time to make the tackle, but I would definitely pass on strong base, it's not better than shed blocks, and I don't think you're dot will have the STR to really make use of it.
