Hello, all!
I just found this game yesterday, very excited about it. I created my first player (a FB) yesterday before reading any guides. I've spent the last day browsing the forums and noticed I've made some rookie mistakes. I don't think I've broken anything too badly, but would like some more expert advice. Should I scrap my player and start over?
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=615602

He hasn't played in a game yet, but is listed as the starter on the team's depth chart. I've used all of my flex points (again, before reading any guides), so if I scrap him I'll lose out on some points I spent boosting him.
Thanks!

Also, I've been offered a spot on a AA team in the Oceania League. It looks like I'd be third on the depth chart behind a level 8 human FB and level 6 CPU FB. I'm still not sure on what the advantages are of joining a human-run team rather than sticking to the d-league to develop. Should I make the jump?

Dont have to scrap.

Nothing that cant be corrected anyway so no need.

First get stam with all points the tre coming lvls to 29 and put playing intensity to relaxed in order to maximise Playing Time and thus exp gained.

First of, blocking or running FB? If Blocking focus on str/blo/vision and a little into speed and agi.

If a running back, focus on str/agi/carrying/speed/vision in that order.

Lay of the SAs for awhile since you need to correct the physical and mental abilities.

Also stay in the D-league to develop first to get a good starting position next year or a good second stringer backup position.

Good luck mate.

I started out with no real aim, but I think I'll aim for more of a blocking FB to help out my team. I assume since we're creating our own players, most teams will have an optimized HB.

Thanks for the tips!

Np mate

also remember to check the half back on the team you land on, to synch up with him, so you can lead bock for him, which means that you guys have close in speed (ie he 50 you 30ish and so forth)

Jeremiah, any tips on what to train? I was training Stamina, but if I invest all my skill points in Stamina, should I train something else, such as speed?

Ok as a blocking FB you will put around 2-1-2, which means 2 in str and 1 in block and 2 in area needed to get up, every level. This is to get your str up to soft cap (48ish) and after that put those str points into block to get that to soft cap(48ish) and let level raise those stats for you, since with points they cost 2+ sps, this is to maximize return on sps from level.

Use training to train stuff up to 17 before putting points into it to maximize returns from training as well.

Personaly I have it set up so I put 2-1-2, and atm I am training speed to 17ish while I put points into vision, and when speed is at 17 I will train a confidance and continue to put those free floating 2s into speed ect ect, always following my training around with those 2s.

As a blocking fullback you need alot of stats, some great like str/blocking, some medium like speed/agi/vision, some low like, carrying/catching/confidance and jumping.

So you have to get together a advance trainig regime to utilize the system to its fullest with a FB

I'm not sure if I read right, but you do not need to start off w/ 29 stamina. There are a few formations that don't use a FB (i.e. shotgun) so your player will get rest naturally. I have 31 stamina now and rarely miss any plays. No more SA's until at least level 10 or so. Really work on your skills first.

What you should have done was put all of your equipment on stamina as it is cheap to reallocate it later, but yes, you need to train stamina so that you are maxing your XP, which is around 50 plays in a game.

All FB's, rushing and blocking, need strength, agility and vision. Strenght is the most important IMO. You can't neglect speed, but not as important. People stress that you need to stay in front of the HB, but HB's vision effect this as well so don't sweat it too much.

Thanks for the tips, guys! I had a GREAT time watching my replays in the first game. I really liked getting the first down for our team on short yardage, so I've changed my mind and will probably focus on more of a running FB. Here's a short writeup of my game:

The Boston Express (3-1) defeats the Virginia Breakers (1-3) tonight in comeback fashion, 7-6. It was an old-fashioned, smashmouth football defensive struggle all night long. Boston, once reliant on the pass for their first two wins, found a running game behind new signees FB Jack Flatman and RB Noel Devine. "After gaining only 74 yards rushing in our loss against the Eagles, we scoured the country to
inject some talent into the backfield. It paid off tonight..."

Boston was plagued with poor field position all night long, but the defense held strong only giving up two field goals in the first three quarters while the new-found ball controlling offense gave them much needed rest, but failed to score. A Breakers muffed punt going only 28 yards switched the field going into the 4th quarter, giving the Express the chance the needed. The Express took the opportunity with a 14 play, 63 yard drive for a Noel Devine TD, the first of his career in the Pros.

Stats: Jack Flatman, FB
Rushes: 4 Yards: 11.5 Avg: 2.9
Receptions: 1 Yards: 0.5 YAC: 3

Some Jack Flatman highlights:
They actually gave the ball to me (the FB) for the first play of the
game. Missed the hole, ran right into the NT, but still gained 3.5
yards:

Nice Leadblock on a 7 yard gain:

Not perfect, I missed this block on the LE!

Third and inches, they give me the ball on our game winning drive, I
gain 4 yards!

Here's me springing Noel Devine for the gaming winning TD:

I think I'll start up a defensive player next, see if I can get on the
same team.

I find it hilarious that the new HB Noel Devine that recently helped your team win will also be the reason Auburn loses in Mo-town next year!!! j/k

Good job with the FB!

Haha, the WVU-Auburn connection is why I mentioned his name so prominently, I couldn't believe it when I saw WHO I was blocking for. Watch out for Auburn this year, I think the new offense will impress some folks nationwide.

Jeremiah, I see what you're saying. I want to build a FB that my team can depend on for those 3rd and inches. Are high level, blocking-focused FBs still able to pick up tough yards in the top leagues?

Yes, hard to stop a 250+ pound monster that wants a yard or two

Yeah, if you build a blocking FB there is a good chance that he can be a decent runner also. You are trying for more of a power back build and not a speed guy so the same things you need for blocking, strength, agility and vision, will work for a power runner.

At some point you are going to need to put points into speed. If it was me I would train speed right now and put 2 strength, 2 blocking and 1 agility\1 vision (alternate) for several levels. No SA's until at least level 12. Around 12 you spend some points towards speed and vision while training stamina. At level 15 I would boost and put about 10 points towards SA's and 5 to vision, 5 to speed.

I would take my custom Equipment and put the skill tree towards the blocking tree and the SP's towards carrying. I would split all of my equipment SP's between blocking and strength.

But thats just me!
