If he doesn't pass and is lucky to rush once a game.

A team I'm playing against in the scrimages does this and I'm wondering whats the point. Is it worth it to give the #1 QB a chance to sit down while the backup comes in and hands the ball off or throws pitches. It just makes you easier to scout.

nah, i dont think its worth it in that sense.

but if they are making perhaps a special QB build that would be detrimental to play early on, but will tear it up later in his career, than i can see it.

but i dont think the saving energy bit on QB1 is really worth it.

Thanks man I was wondering about that and was curious.

I can think of some reasons if he WAS passing or rushing, but if you're saying the 2nd QB is on a team doing nothing, then yea, I'm stumped.

yeah, sounds to me like he is just in on running plays for the hand off/pitch...

You can build a decent PR/KR from a QB, and have him absorb 10-15 snaps to save your #1 QB a little juice. Said QB also makes for a decent rushing QB of course....

In that case, my only theory is the QB is a Field Gen expert.

The team may also want to keep their main QB out of the fray to avoid unnecessary hits to the main QB's energy. Having a 2nd Field Gen QB who doesn't care about pass plays is useful for this reason; however, the team is playing with fire if they don't use him because if a DC realizes the Field Gen QB's stats are low, they can tag that QB for the run. It's important to have all QB's throwing the ball to build up deception stats.

i dont think handing off the ball takes up too much energy... but whatever.

the field general idea could be it. having a good chance to increase the moral of the entire offense in every running play, but even a pure passing QB should, imo, should be looking to get field general up.
