This guy has 30 catches over the past two seasons, despite playing #1/#2 for a pretty good team that passes a fair amount. His strength is pretty weak, I plan on taking that to 48 this next round of boosting, should I take it higher?

Is there something I am missing? This guy seems like he should be able to get open.

stick with pumping strength, imo confidence next. still a solid build though no glaring problem. what is your running style set to? beyond 65 elusive is no benefit regardless of agility the way the sim is now, made that mistake with my wr and it hurt him for a while

This build is simply too balanced.

You aren't fast enough for real separation, you aren't strong enough to break tackles for YAC, you don't have mighty fake ability to freeze defenders and you don't have prodigious jumping/catching/strength to fight for contested balls.

You are also low on confidence and stamina which are pretty critical for WRs.

It's a little sad that builds like this are doomed to mediocrity, but it is a fact of life in the current sim.

Roughly speaking you should aim for one of the following:

Speedster- 135+ speed at your level, agility 80-85, lots of first step and quick cut, 75-80 catching, lots of stamina and confidence. 1 piece of catch chance % gear.

Tackle breaker- 115+ speed, 70ish Strength, 75+ carrying, 85+ agility, 10+ in Spin, 30%+ in break tackle %

Possession - 70-90 Jumping, 85-100+ Catching, 85+ Agility, Strength 50+(60+ preferably), Carrying 70+, vision 65+, Jump Catch SA, Sticky Hands SA, 30%+ catch chance (speed negotiable)

The above are very rough templates, but will all perform reasonably well given a good QB and OC.

You could also try for a catch fake build, but I am not sure exactly how I would do that at the moment (but Juke, Head fake, Catch Fake and Fake Chance% would be a big part of it...not sure how much speed but over 115 for sure and likely lots of vision and agility too).

What he said, you either have to create separation or knock CBs on their ass or have safe hands.

You are a guy who tried for it all but got next to nothing.

My level 14 WR has only 5 less base speed than you do. So you most definitely do not have enough speed if you want to be a speedster.

good advice.

if you want separation at this stage of his career, pump SAs that help create separation. its too late to dump more into speed
