Thought this might be interesting, since as far as I can tell it is a pretty unique build. I haven't seen many World League WRs with 75 speed.

As you'd expect, the main problem is getting targets - only w_alloy was able to figure out a way to do it consistently when my dot was on Valhalla. Still, he led all WRs on his team in catch percentage (consistently 70%+) for something like 5 straight seasons, the last 2 in the World League and in SAPL before that.

I don't think the build is perfect (I didn't take catching high enough to start, for example), but I'm happy to give what little advice I can to aspiring possession WRs.

A+ thread and unique build imo.

Finished up leading hali in catch% in competitive games with 69% which is awesome in the WL!

If anything, surprised to see Ball Hawk on a WR in WL, but i guess it fits perfect for the 'uniqueness' of the build.

Cool Build disappointed you dont have the end zone % catch/jump VA tho. Idk how that build could be stopped in the red zone

Yea, I thought about that often (bonuses would have been insane) but my OCs always said it was too situational and too hard to specifically target him in the endzone. I don't know shit about OCing.

As for Ballhawk, after getting the obvious VAs I didn't think any were better than having a 30% vision bonus in the catch role plus being in marginally better position for the catch. And agility might help a bit in the catch roll as well.

Question. Did you ever try slightly less catch/jump with more spd/agi? Just wondering is all, and if so what were the results.

Also, you WR would have been better off with at least a few points into go to guy (or the QB putting you as 2nd favorite target) imo. If I had to guess, that's what alloy did for you on valhalla. And as long as you talk to the OC about it, it is not a selfish move since you'd merely be correcting the game's bias against slow guys being targetted, and in the end helping your team.

At one point I had 3 more speed due to AEQ . . . but that's it. I always figured I wouldn't get open anyway.

Briefly tried a go to guy and slot machine combo 4 or so seasons back, but ended up switching out of it. Agree that GTG probably would have helped, but for better or worse I left that up to my teams.

For gods sake find an OC who is willing to use him rather than toss him at the bottom of a DC.

Go to Guy is perfect for that build.

There's really no point in adding a couple points to speed...75ish speed is essentially the same as 95ish speed for a WR.

I had a less well-built version of this WR on MPHD who was absolute money on 3rd and 5.

A good OC can do real damage with a build like this, nice!

Personally, would like to see a little more carrying...

Way too much catching and jumping. You'd be better off leaving the jumping at 74, then putting the extra points you spent in jump catch*. Vision to 68 or 74 would be more beneficial than the extra 15 points you have in catching.

* High jumping and ignoring jump catch is like a speedster ignoring first step.

I've never seen jump catch be useful and I have no idea what more vision would do over catching.

Lol, and you've seen 90 jumping be effective? What do you think jumping does? Help you tackle? I suspect there is one reason and 1 reason only for you to take jumping. And jump catch would help with that.

And as for vision, catch deflections much?

Jumping factors into every catch roll, whereas jump catch only fires on balls that are too high.

Yes, he catches deflections often. And I think catching helps more with that (and preventing the deflections in the first place), especially since his vision is already at 80 due to ball hawk.

I'm not sure you understand the mechanics of catching a pass in GLB.

Is there a notable difference between 100 catching and 115 catching?

It seems a little over the top, but interesting nonetheless.
